Job Description
The Senior Utilities Engineer is the technical SME for all Plant and Process Utilities systems at the Veranova Devens and North Andover facilities. This individual would own the installation, maintenance, and improvements of the utilities systems, which are used for the development and manufacture of pharmaceutical API's.

Job Description
The Senior Utilities Engineer is the technical SME for all Plant and Process Utilities systems at the Veranova Devens and North Andover facilities. This individual would own the installation, maintenance, and improvements of the utilities systems, which are used for the development and manufacture of pharmaceutical API's.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Own and manage the Plant and Process utilities systems, including HVAC, Electrical, Chilled & Heated water/glycol loops, plant steam, compressed gasses, vacuum systems, fire suppression, and process water
- Work with external vendors to support PMs, installations, repairs, or improvements to utilities systems
- Investigate and resolve issues with limited supervision and work directly with the Facilities and Maintenance team to support the utilities systems
- Generate/Update SOPs and Work Instructions for utilities systems, and train appropriate personnel on documents
- Generate and manage project timelines and budgets specific to Utilities systems
- Develop User Requirements for new or modified plant and process utilities systems, based on information from end users
- Prepare comprehensive Business Case Justifications and Requests for Proposal for capital projects
- Manage changes or modifications to utilities systems with change controls, as required
- Support deviation investigations and CAPA implementation
- Perform duties according to GMP standards and internal SOPs
- Work safely, injury free, and actively participate in improving department and site safety performance
- Provide technical support to the Maintenance & Facilities, Engineering, Production, and R&D groups
- Aid in continuously improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the sites
- Ensure work follows all state and federal regulations, including but not limited to GMP, DEA, FDA, ASME etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering preferred
- B.S. in Engineering with 5+ years of experience as a Utilities Engineer supporting one or multiple facilities in a manufacturing or R&D environment; OR
- Associate's Degree from a trade school with 7+ years of experience as a Utilities Engineer supporting one or multiple facilities in a manufacturing or R&D environment; OR
- 12+ years of experience as a Utilities Engineer supporting one or multiple facilities in a manufacturing or R&D environment
- Understanding of Building Management Systems and related controls required
- Experience utilizing a CMMS for PMs and Work Orders required
- Ability to create and modify engineering drawings in AutoCAD preferred
- Experience in a GMP environment preferred
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Able to physically enter tight spaces, climb ladders and work from heights
- Able to wear various types of respirators, protective clothing and hearing protection
