Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university with an emphasis in English, journalism, human-centered design or equivalent in a related field or High School Diploma or GED with 10 years progressive relevant experience
  • 5 years of Industry experience as a UX Writer (or Technical Writer)
  • 4 years of experience working through iterative design processes
  • 4 years of experience working in a technical environment
  • 3 years of experience working with research and data to drive decision making
  • 3 years of experience with design thinking principles
  • 3 years of experience writing content for digital mediums
  • This position is not eligible for sponsorship. Must have indefinite employment authorization.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of domain experience in Banking, Financial Services, Fintech, etc.
  • Certifications preferred in one or more of the following areas: UX Writing, Content Design, Content Strategy
  • 3 years of experience presenting to executive leadership


Job Description

Senior UX Writer/Content Designer

The Senior UX Writer ensures that Comerica digital products are easy to use, offer best-in-class content design, and are crafted with a user-centered content design approach. The UX Writer understands the vision, objectives, and transformation roadmap of a product, and collaborates with business, technical, and product leaders as it evolves. This key role supports design leaders by being a hands-on UI and UX contributor as well as an active influencer of technical solutions to achieve an exceptional user-centered outcome by defining, driving, and delivering the content in visual designs, interactive prototypes, and UI components across digital products for integration into the Comerica Enterprise Design System.

Position Responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Help teams define and shape the content experience strategy, facilitating work sessions with stakeholders and users to define key content design goals, processes, and requirements.
  • Guides junior UX Writers related to design execution.
  • Works with Product Owners and UX Researchers to ensure regular user feedback and testing sessions occurs to inform the product direction related to content.
  • Defines and contributes to the content standards (style, voice, tone) as part of the Comerica Design System.
  • Helps define and refine the UX Writing practice as it grows.


Delivery Excellence

  • Defines content test briefs for regular user feedback and testing sessions for their products.
  • Contributes toward the end-to-end content design across multiple features in multiple complex projects.
  • Provides implementation guidance to engineers and ensure features launch at the highest quality bar.
  • Designs end-to-end user experiences and interactions that are intuitive, efficient, and productive, considering not just content but overall UX best practice.
  • Influences and contributes to the Comerica Design System.
  • Is an advocate of customers throughout design and development of products through content. Is involved in early planning sessions with Product Owners and CX.
  • Makes recommendations to the product and UX team regarding market, industry trends, and competitor offerings.
  • Creates the content in high fidelity designs and interactive prototypes for multiple complex products.


Collaboration

  • Mentors junior UX Writers to assist them in understanding the vision, objectives, and transformation roadmap of a product.
  • Works collaboratively with Product, CX, Legal, Marketing, and Engineering partners from concept to completion. Helps to define the collaborative process with these stakeholders and drives approval of all content for products.
  • Provides content usability recommendations based on industry best practices, analytics and user behavior and ensures consistency across products.
  • Contributes to strategic decisions around product definition and roadmaps.
  • Works closely with product teams to translate business requirements into use cases and high-level customer experience requirements related to content.
  • Presents designs, prototypes, and concepts to cross-functional partners and stakeholders for multiple complex products.
  • Collaborates with User Researchers and Product Owners to define user tests.


Risk Management

  • Identifies and communicates UX/UI Design related issues and/or risks that are impactful to the Journey teams.
  • Works closely with the Journey teams to assist in resolving identified risks.


Project Execution

  • Uses Jira to plan, manage, and forecast all UX Writing work.
  • Attends and participates in Sprint cadence sessions such as Sprint planning, daily standups, refinement, and Sprint reviews.
