What We're Looking For
Complex is looking for a SVP, Merchandising to deliver the Complex audience a curated shopping experience. As the Vice President of Merchandising, you are a leader of the merchandise product, strategy, and commerce business, and you have built relationships with brands and other marketplaces. You play a pivotal role in shaping the stylistic point of view of our marketplace. You stay ahead of fashion trends, cultural shifts, and streetwear movements to inform that point of view. Your strategic vision and leadership is instrumental in driving sales and establishing a clear point of difference in the competitive market. You lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to curate an unparalleled assortment of products that resonate with our target audience.

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to experience and performance. The range listed is just one component of Complex's Total Rewards offerings for employees.

What You'll Do
- Develop and execute a comprehensive merchandising strategy aligned with the brand's vision and business objectives.
- Develop and manage a robust pipeline of first-to-market and exclusive products, including but not limited to footwear, sneakers, apparel, accessories and collectibles from relevant brands, designers, distributors, licensees, and personalities.
- Conduct thorough market analysis to identify gaps and opportunities in the current assortment.
- Identify opportunities for growth, optimization, and expansion of product offerings.
- Work closely with data, licensing, business partnerships, and marketplace teams to manage timelines of product releases and develop rollout plans and strategies to cultivate collections on the web
- Identify key customer profiles and develop specific short-term and long-term product strategies to serve them
- Establish a unique and distinctive point of difference in the market through strategic product curation
- Monitor competitor landscape and consumer preferences to adapt and refine the merchandising strategy
- Continually onboard vendors to the Complex brand and retailer marketplace
- Procure desirable product from seasonal and go-to-market assortments
- Create proprietary product offerings in partnership with influencers, talent, and in-house Licensing team.
- Be responsible for revenue growth across all categories and cultural events by working closely with creative to build merchandising stories and developing exciting collections visible on the commerce platform
- Present product pipeline and planning presentations to Senior leadership team during weekly reviews
- Work closely with your team to track and coordinate product samples, production inventory, marketing assets, and cross-promotional synergies with all brand partner
- Review customer feedback to predict sales trends and seasonal stock demand
- Research and monitor industry trends and consumer behavior to anticipate demand and changes in buying patterns
- Make predictions based on sales data, customer feedback and market trends and develop forecasting and projection reports for executive teams
- Review competitors, including pricing, profit, marketing and other progress
Who You Are
- 10-15 years of professional experience in online merchandising
- Possess skills in purchasing, logistics, licensing, partner relations and trend analysis
- Deep understanding of streetwear culture, fashion trends, and consumer behavior
- Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams
- Experience in retail and e-commerce is required
- Ability to work cross-functionally
- Proficient in G Suite, Keynote, Airtable, and Monday.com
- Excellent communication skills, including speaking, copywriting, and listening
- Strong time management abilities, including planning and prioritizing workloads and release schedules
- In-depth knowledge of industry-specific trends and issues
- Effective strategic planning, both for the short-term and long-term
- Thorough understanding of merchandising trends and industry best practices
