About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Senior Water System Engineer to work in our growing Water Practice. Baxter & Woodman works with municipal clients on projects of all sizes, putting the client and the solution first - solving problems for people.

What your day-to-day will look like
  • Manage water distribution system study and design projects.
  • Leading a team of project engineers and technical support staff.
  • Develop hydraulic models of water distribution systems.
  • Lead preparation of water system master plans.
  • Develop business in the Chicagoland area.
  • Evaluation and design of potable water facilities.
  • Preparation of plans and specifications for construction.
  • Performing quality control of water models, reports, and/or design.
  • Permitting with local, state, and federal permitting agencies.
  • Preparation of competitive proposals and participation in interviews.
  • Represent Baxter & Woodman at municipal meetings.

Education/Certification Requirements
  • 4-year B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
  • IllinoisP.E. License required (or the ability to obtain through reciprocity).

Must-haves, what you will bring
  • 6+ years of experience in potable water infrastructure analysis and design.
  • Expertise in potable water hydraulic modeling, including master planning.
  • Expertise with WaterGEMs and InfoWater Pro, plus ArcGIS.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of infrastructure design and plan preparation.
  • Experience in consulting engineering, public works, or construction.
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Strong verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman service area (own transportation).

Compensation: The pay range for this role is $90,000 - $120,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
