Working knowledge of Oregon Revised Statutes Chapter 656/Workers' Compensation and related Oregon Administrative Rules. Experience interpreting and understanding medical terminology, anatomy, care and treatment of occupational injuries. Skill in calculating disability benefits and setting reserves in accordance with accepted reserving practices and standards accurately. Experience negotiating return to work issues, litigation, settlements, and claim resolution. Skill in analyzing claims and preparing clear and concise reports while maintaining effective working relationships with clients. Experience with electronic record keeping using Adobe Pro and other applications.

- Performs analysis, investigations and other case management functions to determine whether injuries and illness are occupationally related,
- Establish the level of compensable benefits in accordance with state legal requirements
- Facilitate employee return-to-work as soon as medically appropriate.
- Perform responsibilities with a significant degree of independence and application of sound professional judgment in reaching determinations that are fair and compassionate to employees while protecting the city from unnecessary costs.
