We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated ServiceNow Discovery Process Owner to lead the ServiceNow Discovery and Asset Management initiatives within our IT organization. This role will be responsible for driving the strategy, implementation, and continuous improvement of ServiceNow Discovery processes, ensuring accurate identification and management of IT assets and services to support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Ownership & Leadership:
- Own and manage the end-to-end ServiceNow Discovery process, aligning with ITIL best practices and organizational objectives.
- Define, implement, and continuously improve discovery processes, standards, and procedures.
ServiceNow Discovery Management:
- Lead the configuration, optimization, and administration of ServiceNow Discovery and related modules.
- Oversee discovery schedules, probes, sensors, patterns, and credentials to ensure accurate and comprehensive discovery of IT infrastructure and services.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Partner with IT Operations, Infrastructure, Security, and Application teams to gather discovery requirements and drive process alignment.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to support discovery tool integrations and enhancements.
Data Governance & Quality:
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of Configuration Item (CI) data in the CMDB (Configuration Management Database).
- Establish data quality controls, audits, and reconciliation processes for discovered data.
Reporting & Metrics:
- Develop reporting frameworks, dashboards, and KPIs to measure discovery performance, data accuracy, and process effectiveness.
- Provide regular reports and insights to IT leadership on discovery trends and operational impact.
Training & Knowledge Sharing:
- Provide training and mentorship to IT staff on ServiceNow Discovery processes, tool usage, and best practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and process improvement.
Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, security policies, and regulatory requirements related to IT asset management and discovery activities.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 7+ years of relevant IT experience, with a minimum of 4 years focused on ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB management.
- Strong hands-on expertise with ServiceNow Discovery tools, including configuration of probes, sensors, patterns, and credentials.
- Deep understanding of ITIL framework, specifically related to Configuration Management and IT Asset Management (ITAM).
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and improving discovery processes in enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of data governance principles, CMDB data modeling, and asset lifecycle management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex infrastructure environments.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple teams and business units.
- Experience in developing operational dashboards, reports, and discovery performance metrics within ServiceNow.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership.
Desired Skills:
- ServiceNow Discovery Implementation Specialist or CMDB Certification preferred.
- Experience with ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM) framework.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow ITOM modules (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management).
- Knowledge of integrations between ServiceNow Discovery and third-party tools.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow scripting (JavaScript), APIs, and automation.
- Experience with ServiceNow On-Premise environments is a plus.
- Experience with Cloud Discovery (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
Education & Certification:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required.
- ITIL Foundation Certification (v3 or v4) required.
- ServiceNow certifications (Discovery Implementation Specialist, CMDB, ITOM) strongly preferred.
Work Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant IT work experience, with a proven track record of managing ServiceNow Discovery processes in large-scale enterprise environments.
