Shipyard General Manager Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of shipyard operations, including new construction, repair, and maintenance projects.
- Establish departmental goals and ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Direct activities related to safety, personnel management, production scheduling, material handling, and quality control.
- Provide leadership to managers, supervisors, and staff, fostering a motivated and well-trained workforce.
- Develop and implement tactical plans aligned with company strategies, ensuring resources are effectively allocated.
- Manage procurement activities to ensure coordination between purchasing, production, and shipping.
- Prepare annual projections, quarterly reports, and capital budgets to support financial planning.
- Control labor and expense budgets, ensuring financial goals are met.
Shipyard General Manager Position Requirements
- Strong knowledge of business functions related to shipyard and engineering management.
- Ability to analyze situations, anticipate challenges, and implement proactive solutions.
- Extensive experience in manufacturing and material handling within a shipyard environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as a shipyard manager, preferably in shipbuilding (tugs and barges).
- Bachelor's degree in production management, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
