A shipyard is seeking a highly organized and experienced Shipyard General Manager to oversee newbuild and repair production, yard support, and administrative functions in Pascagoula, Mississippi. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in shipyard operations, supervisory experience, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a proven leader capable of ensuring safe and efficient operations while driving productivity and maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Shipyard General Manager Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of shipyard operations, including new construction, repair, and maintenance projects.
  • Establish departmental goals and ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Direct activities related to safety, personnel management, production scheduling, material handling, and quality control.
  • Provide leadership to managers, supervisors, and staff, fostering a motivated and well-trained workforce.
  • Develop and implement tactical plans aligned with company strategies, ensuring resources are effectively allocated.
  • Manage procurement activities to ensure coordination between purchasing, production, and shipping.
  • Prepare annual projections, quarterly reports, and capital budgets to support financial planning.
  • Control labor and expense budgets, ensuring financial goals are met.

Shipyard General Manager Position Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of business functions related to shipyard and engineering management.
  • Ability to analyze situations, anticipate challenges, and implement proactive solutions.
  • Extensive experience in manufacturing and material handling within a shipyard environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a shipyard manager, preferably in shipbuilding (tugs and barges).
  • Bachelor's degree in production management, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
