This position is located at our sales and service dealership in Vernon, BC

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Shop Manager, Truck is responsible for ensuring that the quality, quantity, and safety of the work performed by equipment technicians meets Service expectations. Shop Managers have overall responsibility for maintaining the shop schedule, ensuring warranty and troubleshooting processes are followed, repair timelines are achieved, and repair quality meets expectations. Once repair orders are ready for dispatch it is the Shop Manager's job to ensure all repairs, costs, and timelines are communicated to the Service Front Counter and our customers, ultimately leading to an exceptional and predictable service visit while meeting the customer's needs.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain control of shop technicians, tools, processes, and procedures. This includes:
  • Consistent and regular schedule review for incoming and ongoing work.
  • Routine Floor Management updating the ongoing jobs so the Front Service Counter can keep our customers informed.
  • Ensuring technicians have all relevant information and resources to complete their work to expectation.
  • Support the creation of accurate repair estimates.
  • Ensure warrantable repairs meet OEM criteria.


  • Ensure workorders are complete and accurate before sending back to the Front Service Counter.
  • Support and ensure Technicians are meeting productivity, efficiency, and proficiency targets.
  • Ensure timely and accurate updates to the Front Service Counter.
  • Proactively identify repair or process issues in real time.
  • Lead by example and always display professional and ethical conduct.
  • Assist the Service Manager with performance management of technicians.


Contribute to successful shop performance
  • Maintain Technician productivity, efficiency, and proficiency.
  • Contribute to meeting Dwell time (repair time) by following the Inland Way Service Process
  • Participate in ongoing training opportunities and ensure your successful completion of required/recommended training offerings.
  • Gross profit - accurate estimating, recommending service work and controlling Technician time on workorders.


General Duties
  • Implement and maintain an effective dispatch system
  • Communicates job status with the next shift supervisor (Service Advisor, Leadhand, etc).
  • Maintains an organized tools, service trucks and repair logs.
  • Ensures accurate estimates.
  • Maintains strong working knowledge of warranty parameters for our OEMS and major component suppliers.
  • Trains and reviews repair stories with the Technicians to ensure the Complaint, Cause, Correction, Complications and Confirmation are accurate.


  • Becomes familiar with and complies with the company's Health & Safety policies


WHAT WE LOOK FOR
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in related field
  • Four years related experience and/or training
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Heavy repair technical knowledge and related experience in truck or equipment service repair business
  • Prior supervisory or lead hand/chargehand experience
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic computer skills, including spreadsheets and keyboarding
  • Must have valid Class 5 driver's license

SALARY

The Salary range for this position is $72,000 - $90,000 depending on experience.
