JOB DESCRIPTION:
Holcim (US) Inc. seeks a Shutdown Manager at our Alpena, MI plant to lead in the planning, preparation, implementation and overall coordination of annual shutdown activities and CAPEX projects to ensure efficient and effective execution with respect to safety, timeliness, work quality repairs, installation and cost effectiveness.
The Shutdown Manager's essential duties include:
This position requires up to 15% domestic and international travel.
REQUIREMENTS: The position of Shutdown Manager requires a bachelor's degree, or its foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related Engineering field. The position requires 10 years of progressively-responsible, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered, as a Maintenance Planner, Reliability Engineer, Maintenance/Operations/Project Manager, or in a related heavy industrial position.
Additionally, the applicant must have the following number of years of professional experience with each of the following:
10 years: Working in heavy industrial sector 7 years: Conducting mechanical or electrical maintenance activities 7 years: Managing Outage or Turnaround activities within heavy industrial sector 5 years: Conducting preventive maintenance programs and routines, FMEA techniques, and problem-solving tools 5 years: Using SAP-Prometheus, Autocad, and Microsoft Project 5 years: Using CIF (Cement Industrial Framework), Project Management Approach (PMA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Engineering Economics 5 years: Interpreting Engineering and technical drawing

Holcim (US) Inc. seeks a Shutdown Manager at our Alpena, MI plant to lead in the planning, preparation, implementation and overall coordination of annual shutdown activities and CAPEX projects to ensure efficient and effective execution with respect to safety, timeliness, work quality repairs, installation and cost effectiveness.
The Shutdown Manager's essential duties include:
- Organize, plan, and follow the general schedule of the annual major outage.
- Cascade all activities in the Outage to different levels in the plant.
- Evaluate and approve the detailed Outage execution plan including change request.
- Define the organization, roles/responsibilities, scope, targets, contracting strategy and critical activities within budget and time frame.
- Analyze shutdown critical path activities and ensure that resources are allocated in the most efficient manner in accordance with an agreed plan.
- Coordinate with Plant procurement for the timely sourcing and delivery of service providers, tools and machine parts, ensure that costs are reasonable in accordance with the required works and delivery target with Outage plan.
- Manage the implementation of Outage activities and provide control measures to identify causes of deviation from plants.
- Complete activities and critical path aligned based on schedules and resources.
- Lead daily shutdown meetings and ensure timely and accurate reports on safety, work progress, quality of work, and cost.
- Manage Third Party contractors in the implementation of activities especially on safety and quality of works.
- Coordinate closely with BCC (Best Cost Country) suppliers regarding technical specifications of outage materials.
- Evaluate Outage program performance for continuous improvement.
- Manage the overall result of the Outage program based on defined KPI's. This includes support and evaluation of Outage overall budget and other resources requirements.
- Responsible for people development of the outage team, production, and maintenance personnel.
- Present options and identified solutions to top management for any major deviation of the outage plans.
- Approve Maintenance material detailed drawings and specifications relating to outage materials.
- Manage and lead the planning of CAPEX activities in coordination with regional maintenance and procurement team.
- Optimize resource plans/requirements, supplies and logistics for shutdown.
- Manage AAR with Outage team and plant management to improve safety, quality and time & cost.
- Monitor and conduct assessment if the performance improvements desired of the Outage repairs/activities of the equipment such as availability, production rate, and MTBF, equipment efficiency, power usage, etc. are attained during its operation.
