We are in search of a Simulation Engineer - Defense Systems to join our group supporting the initiatives of the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Cost Assessment & Program Evaluation (CAPE) in Alexandria, VA. This team provides analytic studies and operations research support using quantitative modeling, simulation, and technical analysis to CAPE. Tasks range from the development and use of specific war fighting models to evaluation of military operations and technology across a spectrum of conflicts. The successful applicant will assist CAPE in their mission to provide quality, data driven analysis and alternatives to senior decision makers within the DOD.

Responsibilities Include:
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:
Master's Degree or higher in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Computational Biology, Data Science, Materials Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science and 10+ years of experience
5+ years of experience in modifying existing methodologies and/or developing new tools and techniques to solve problems that have not been well-studied
3+ years of experience providing accurate, detailed, and defensible analysis of complex analytical questions in rapid timeframes
A background in developing models of physical systems
Computer programming skills (Python, MATLAB, R, etc.), especially as applied to modeling and simulation
Experience interfacing directly with government personnel and leadership
The ability to critically analyze and interpret data from multiple disparate sources
Experience preparing high-quality monthly reports and subject matter briefings as contract deliverables
Clearance Required:
Active Interim Top Secret clearance upon hire and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance and SCI Eligibility.

Responsibilities Include:
- Providing analytic support grounded in sound scientific and engineering principles to OSD CAPE
- Providing critical analyses on topics such as Radar Systems, EO/IR Sensors, Electronic Jamming, Missile Defense, Space Systems, CBRNE Incident Response, Aerodynamics, Defense Critical Infrastructure
- Developing computer simulations or models in the above areas
- Developing scripted briefings for the client as needed
- Analyzing and interpreting data from multiple sources
- The ability to work in a multi-contractor environment within the customer's secure facility in Alexandria, VA
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Computational Biology, Data Science, Materials Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science and 12+ years of experience
- 3+ years of total analytical experience in at least one of the following areas: Ballistic Missile Defense, Space Systems, Strategic and Tactical Nuclear Forces, Chemical and Biological Weapons, Air and Cruise Missile Defense, Counterterrorism, Survey and Manpower Data Analysis, Defense and/or Intelligence Community Sensor Analysis, Modeling and Simulation Development related to defense and/or intelligence communities
- 8+ years of experience working on quick-turn, highly technical projects relevant to defense analysis
