Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is building the next generation cloud along with providing world class cloud services and support experience. We are a team of Site Reliability Developers who focus on managing high security operations centers. Our mission is to optimize operations, manage operations services and systems, deploy services through change management and continuous deployment processes, and respond to incidents involving mission critical services, systems and processes. You'll be part of a dynamic team that learns and sets direction for cleared operations centers.

As part of the broader Engineering organization, you will be a key part of Oracle National Security Region's change management processes, work with partner teams on developing and introducing new services and features into secured regions, and troubleshoot production issues when required. This role is critical to the success of our system engineering, the partner operations teams, security, and the management teams.

This role will support Oracle's Government customers.

Responsibilities

Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production and systems services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance. Authority for end-to-end performance and operability. Partner with development teams in defining, implementing, and deploying improvements in service architecture. Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide Development Teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Operations Center service portfolio. Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues and create/maintain documented runbooks. Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.
  • Perform maintenance to services running within secured regions through the use of command line tools, change processes, and runbooks.
  • Deploy code and execute other changes within the region.
  • Ensure timely resolution and documentation of incidents through bridge calls following guidance for secure communications.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of incidents through company-standard reporting methods.
  • Monitor the region for faults, alarms, and other errors.
  • Inform internal teams as required through process and procedure. Help identify and discuss process improvements and tools optimization.
  • Act as a point of escalation for incidents and other issues arising within the region.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues on behalf of service teams.

Required Qualifications
  • Must have a US government Top Secret SCI security clearance with willingness to get a polygraph clearance
  • Associate degree in computer related field, or 3-5 years work experience.
  • Experience with Linux and infrastructure support and server administration.
  • Experience with managing secured services across distributed systems and geographies.
  • Customer obsession, passion for delighting customers.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new technical domains and then train others.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of cloud concepts, platforms, and distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud networking and software driven networks.
  • Experience with coding or scripting using a major scripting language.
  • Experience deploying code within change management procedures.
  • Experience participating in or running incident bridges.
  • Experience in cloud technical support, operations, NOC or similar.
  • Experience working with government customers.


Qualifications

A BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent. Identifies solutions to knowledge of server hardware and software configuration, networking, standard internet services, scripting languages, cloud computing patterns, technology security and compliance. Experience running large scale customer facing web services. Identifies solutions to understanding of load balancing technologies and experience with development in programming languages, databases and big data stores, and container technologies. Work involves defining and documenting technical architecture of complex and highly scalable products. A minimum of 5+ years experience of running large scale customer facing web services.
