SMT Process Engineer
Full Time Position Supervisor: Process Engineering Manager
Own all of the technical process aspects of the SMT Process and be the SMT Subject Matter Expert (SME). Have
an intimate knowledge of all SMT process equipment capabilities, programming, operation, process, performance,
maintenance, troubleshooting and on-going continuous improvement.
Manage the SMT lines to ensure that all processes and equipment are being setup and run as efficiently and as
cost effectively as possible, resulting in a high quality product and limited defects.
Routine walks through the line to be available for operators and Supervisor to address any training, performance
and quality issues.
SMT Manufacturing process/equipment validation and qualification
Develop and optimize process parameters utilizing SPC tools.
Work with Engineering manager to review NPI documentation, in order to ensure SMT has what it needs
to be successful on new product introductions.
Lead the SMT FAI review and corrective action.
Establish methods to improve SMT processes for quality, cost, schedule and solve SMT manufacturing
problems.
Perform Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews as needed.
Provide board panelization inputs and reviews of bare board manufacturing requirements.
Order custom tooling required to manufacture product.
Develop stencil design and stencil modifications.
Support in development of process flow routing for use in production.
Create production documentation from customer files and standard manufacturing practices and provide
training as required.
Provide training for SMT personnel.
Implement engineering changes to production documentation as required.
Support SMT Supervisor in identifying gaps between operator's skills/knowledge and expectations.
Work with Engineering to provide feedback on process development, process improvement by
communicating lessons learned.

Understand and identify defects in accordance with applicable workmanship standard and class.
Stay up to date and advise on best practices for SMT assembly.

Bachelors degree in Engineering
At least 5 years of direct experience with SMT processes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Advanced understanding of SMT theories (ie., reflow profiling, screen printing, defects etc...)
Effective interpersonal skills.
Effective multitasking skills and ability to take on additional responsibilities as required.
Strong analytical skills.
Demonstrate high attention to detail.
Ability to work with diverse groups.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance, exercising discretion and independent judgement
and professionalism.
Understanding and ability to use continuous improvement tools.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and interpret instructions from operating
manuals.
Working experience with process controls, utilizing various statistical techniques. (DQ, IQ, OQ, and PQ)
Strong customer service and client focus.
Working knowledge of productivity tools, including Microsoft Office products.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position may need a U.S Security Clearance within 1 year of start
date
