General Description
Under general supervision, the Social Services District Manager will perform complex administrative and professional work by planning, implementing, directing, and reviewing programs, activities and operations within the Kanawha County child welfare units of CPS and Youth Services. Responsibilities include planning, policy development, direction, coordination, and administration of the operation of multiple units within CPS and Youth Services. Acts as a liaison within Bureau for Social Services with the state and federal partners to facilitate problem resolution of complex matters. Collaborate with community partners, outside agencies, and service providers to assist in services provided to clients. Employee is subject to being on-call during non-business hours and must be available with access to a telephone.
Applicants must possess a valid WV driver's license, and reliable transportation. Applicants also must have strong communication skills, both oral and written, and maintain detailed records and extensive documentation. Frequent travel may be required. Successful completion of a background check is required for employment.
PLEASE NOTE: This position will immediately be filled for Kanawha County, but potential applicants should be aware that it is subject to possible restructuring to serve other surrounding counties in the future.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Six (6) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in a human services related area (such as case work, social work, counseling, child services, and or adult services).
Internal Applicants Only:
Four (4) years of experience in the Child Protective Service, Child Welfare, or Adult Protective Service Worker series, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, may substitute for the required education and experience.
Substitution Information: Additional education and experience may be substituted based on a year-for-year basis or as determined by the Office of Shared Administration Equivalency Chart.
