About this Opportunity

The Social Work Program Manager provides programmatic and administrative leadership to the Child Welfare section of the Department of Social Services in either Permanency Planning or Child Protective Services. This position is responsible for the supervision of the social work supervisors and the social work trainer. The Social Work Program Manager must identify training needs and ensure units are following all federal, states, and county policies and procedures as well as assist with internal policy development, program planning, and budget preparation. This position also serves as an agency liaison for designated committees and interagency groups.

Must be available to work during emergency situations.
Education and Experience

  • Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and three years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and four years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or
  • Master's degree in a counseling field and four years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or
  • Four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and five years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university and six years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human services field providing experience in techniques of casework, group work, or community organization, two of which were in a supervisory capacity; or
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment. Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
