The Social Work Supervisor is responsible for surveying the professional needs of the Caswell Developmental Center social workers, and for the development of strategies to meet those needs. The Social Work Supervisor reviews cases quantitatively and qualitatively for adherence to established standards; and assigned social workers are assisted in effectively and efficiently applying their skills or enhancing their skills through scheduled supervisory conferences. Other job duties include:
  • Coordinating Pre-Admission Screening and Resident Review as well as admission and discharge tracking reports.
  • Supervising a staff of social workers, assigning cases to subordinates, coordinating work flow operations, and supervising staff through case review and consultation which requires the provision of substantial and recurring technical direction.
  • Responsible for staff training, resolving problems for agencies and clients and ensuring that quality services are provided.
  • In depth assessment of individuals and family dynamics and needs, assessment, intervention and treatment of residents.
  • Assists and oversees the recording, reporting, and assessing of social work data.
  • Serves as liaison between unit staff and departmental, county, state officials regarding policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Promotes coordination and cooperation with other agencies and officials as well as interested individuals and groups in the community.
  • Reviews program objectives and service delivery needs with social workers and formulates specific goals and objectives for the assigned program areas.
  • May be assigned a caseload to provide direct services to clients and their families.
  • Consultation with other disciplines and the interdisciplinary treatment team is an important function of this position.

Work Location: Badrock House
Work Hours: 8 AM - 5 PM, M-F, with occasional evening and weekend duties as needed.

  • Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems.

  • Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations, and policies which govern social work programs.
  • Ability to supervise, train or orient other staff, social workers, students, interns, or casework aides in the program.
  • Ability to plan and execute work effectively.
  • Ability to organize, track, monitor, and establish systems that adhere and support regulations and policies which govern the program.
  • Ability in establishing rapport with a client and in applying techniques or assessing psychosocial, behavioral, and psychological aspects of client problems.
  • Training in person centered thinking and trauma informed care.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience;
or
Bachelor's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience;
or
Master's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience;
or
Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience;
or
an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or university.
