Job Description

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILTIES: Units 8100, 8200 and Medical Weekend Social Workers and coverage when needed.
  • Provides clinical and administrative supervision of the social work staff in the 8100, 8200, Medical Weekend Social Workers or general care.
  • Orients new social work staff and apprises incumbent staff of changes in policy, procedure or standards related to the department and various in-house services.
  • Ensures adequate coverage and continuity of patient care at all times.
  • Ensures staff documents all interventions and continuing care plans in the patient's medical record in accordance with departmental and hosptal policies.
  • Coordinates staff activities to meet the needs of the department.
  • Participates in the formulation of standards, policies and procedures for orientation, supervision and in-service training of social work staff.
  • Monitors staff activities to ensure compliance with all the above.
  • Assist workers with the coordination of interdisciplinary case conferences for and with patients.
  • Prepares performance evaluations for social work staff.
  • Provides information about and acts as linkage to available community resources.
  • Participates in the department's performance improvement meetings and projects.
  • Conducts chart monitoring as a member of the department's performance improvement activities.
  • Ensures staff documents all intervention and continuing care plans in the patient's medical records in accordance with departmental and hospital policies.


Minimum Qualifications
1. Valid license as an LCSW issued by the NYSED, and two (2) years of supervisory experience, as described above.
