The Prince George's County Department of Health is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Social Worker 4,grade G27 position, in the Behavorial Health division. This is a Limited Term Grant Funded (LTGF) position with benefits.
About the Position
This is a senior level professional and administrative position ensuring the provision of clinical services and support for the District Court, Mental Health Court Program, using professional social work or counseling theories, methodologies and practice standards. Incumbent will provide diagnostic evaluations and provide status updates of defendants during Mental Health Court pre-docket meetings and court hearings. Collaborates with state hospitals to ensure viable discharge plans for defendants returning to the community.

The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.

Examples of Work
- Attends and participates in weekly pre-docket and Mental Health Court hearings. Reports on the status of defendants during court hearings.
- Collects, analyzes and interprets program data, submits bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports of program activities and accomplishments.
- Conducts diagnostic evaluations on Mental Health Court referrals and participants which may occur in the Prince George's County jail.
- Assists case managers with determining social work and mental health care required by complex patients/clients in crisis situations.
- Monitors the SMART data tracking system to ensure compliance with the Office of Problem-Solving Court.
- Collaborates with state hospitals to ensure viable discharge plans for defendants returning to the community.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university or equivalent program as determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners with a Master's Degree in Social Work.
- Three (3) years Post Masters experience providing social work services including two (2) year of lead/supervisory responsibilities.
- License to practice as a Social Worker in the state of Maryland: LCSW, LMSW, LCSW-C, LGPC, LCPC.
Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered. Please note there is no equivalency for supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university or equivalent program as determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners with a Master's Degree in Social Work plus five (5) years of Post Masters experience providing social work services.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university or equivalent program as determined by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists with a Master's Degree in Counseling, plus five (5) years of Post Master's experience providing counseling services.
