NYS Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Software Architect Expert

Day to Day task include:
  • Guide the technical design for the modernization of legacy systems.
  • Coordinate technical solutions among various technical support groups.
  • Make changes in multiple systems in real time to enable changes requested by user groups.
  • Implement technical solutions.
  • Develop tax processing system components and maintain existing processing systems.
  • Support production tasks, including analysis of issues, proposing, and implementing solutions for defect resolution.
  • Coordinate with the development team on development activities and integration testing.
  • Develop technical design documents and program specifications.
  • Guide requirements gathering sessions.
  • Guide the analysis of requirements and system design work.
  • Code and perform unit and integration tests of programming assignments.
  • Write and tune SQL.
  • Support user testing efforts.
  • Performance tune new and existing applications.
  • Monitor less experienced staff.
Requested Qualifications:
  • 84 months experience with J2EE technologies including JDBC, JSP and XML.
  • 84 months experience developing, building, and testing Java EE applications using modern IDE's, such as Eclipse, Netbeans, or IntelliJ.
  • 84 months experience using J2EE frameworks such as Spring or struts and Application Servers such as Tomcat, JBoss, Websphere or Weblogic.
  • 84 months experience writing SQL statements for relational databases.
  • 84 months of experience in system analysis and design of multi-tiered transactional systems.
  • 60 months experience in performance tuning applications interacting with databases.
  • 60 months of experience in messaging technologies, such as MQ, JMS, Kafka.

Work hours and location:
  • Full time role with engagement length of 30 months
  • Daily work hours: 8:00am to 4:30pm
  • Physical office location: WA Harriman Campus Bldg. 8, Albany, NY, 12010
  • Telecommuting options: After 4 months of full-time on-site, candidate may be eligible for up to 40% (2 days per week) of remote work. Eligibility will be determined by supervisor, based on all accesses provided and candidate is able to work on their own.
