Job Description

Are you an experienced Lead or Principal Software Engineer, who loves establishing software engineering teams to build awesome software products that advance the mission of an organization? Do you take pride in your ability to build and solution high quality software engineering systems and applications that are dynamic, robust, and scalable? Are you passionate about mentoring, building, supporting, and working alongside software engineering teams and engineering departments as they establish Software Product Development Lifecycles and design and implement successful software products?

Oteemo is looking for a candidate with broad industry software application design and implementation experience, who has helped software engineering teams build a variety of successful products and applications, preferably for a variety of industries and markets, and who has previously been in a lead or principal software engineering role. You will help our customers with your knowledge and experience, by guiding them in establishing their engineering departments and organizations, helping them solution and design their software applications and systems, and working along-side them to hands-on build, implement, and deliver those systems to their production environments and end users. • This is a Hybrid position (1-2 days a week) onsite in College Park, MD.
• Candidates must have the ability to obtain a Secret Government Clearance.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities of the Software Architects include, but are not limited to..

• Establishing Engineering best practices and guidelines for software design and implementation across the organization
• Provide hands-on experience, guidance, and strategy, around Design Pattern solutions and their application, Modular Code, Microservices Design, Service Oriented Architectures, Event and Test Driven Design, Model Based Systems Engineering and Model Based Design, separation of Data/Interface/Processing layers, and reusable function and code design, and similar techniques
• Design and Develop Prototypes and Proofs of Concepts
• Establishing reusable templates and code libraries, and processes and guidelines for contributing to them, and evangelizing their shared use across the organization
• Provide strategy and guidelines for consolidating and standardizing implementation solutions for future reuse
• Collaborating with Software Application Product teams each development cycle, to provide consultation and guidance around design and implementation of solutions
• Lead Design Review boards and discussions
• Encourage and facilitate knowledge sharing and upskilling among software engineers
• Cataloging and maintaining an inventory of implementation solutions across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience as a hands-on Software Engineer
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related degree, or equivalent experience
• Hands-on experience with at least 3 different programming languages (i.e. Java, Node/JavaScript, C#, Python, Perl)
• Hands-on experience with at least 2 different databases, including at least one Relational Database, and one NoSQL Database (i.e. Postgres, MSSQL, Oracle, MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB, Redis)
• Hands-on experience with at least 2 User Interface or front-end Frameworks (i.e. React, Bootstrap, JQuery, Vue, Next)
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing APIs, Microservices, and/or Server-Client applications
• Experience leading code reviews and mentoring junior developers
• 5+ years of hands-on commercial industry experience preferred
• Knowledge of Design Patterns preferred
• Knowledge of caching, indexing, and queuing technologies preferred
