We are expanding our team and looking for a skilled software designers to build our next generation big data analytics platform that will support a variety of applications across the Accedian portfolio.
We are looking for highly motivated professionals with different levels of experience. We envision that most team members will work from our R&D center in Montreal, but we will also consider candidates who would work from home. This is a great opportunity to enter a cutting-edge project from the beginning, with virtually unlimited growth potential in the future!

JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will:
Architect, design, implement and test core components of Accedian's next generation big data analytics platform:
- Data acquisition, a high-throughput, low-latency real-time data feeds platform
- Analytics Engine
- Database and data models
- Local cluster and cloud deployments
Qualifications
- Passion for software development
- Excellent understanding of Big Data Analytics concepts: data acquisition, processing and storage, the three V's (Volume, Velocity, Variety), algorithmic complexity ("big-O")
- Excellent understanding of data structures (hash table, graph, tree...), object-oriented programming, design patterns, scalability, high-availability, distributed storage, distributed processing and parallel programming
- Excellent understanding of virtualized compute and storage environments
- Reliable, taking pride in delivering high-quality results on aggressive deadlines
- Team player, quick learner and passionate at solving challenging problems
DESIRED SKILLS
- Good understanding of telecommunications networks - Carrier Ethernet and IP Networks
- Good understanding of open source projects relevant to this field of activity
- Good understanding of data science concepts: statistics, probabilities, uncertainties, curve fitting, trends, correlations, multi-variate analysis, decision trees, neural networks, visualization
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Experience with Scala, Java, Python and/or C++ (other languages are an asset)
- Experience with Apache Kafka , Apache Spark, NoSQL & Time Series DBs and HDFS
- Experience with OpenStack, KVM, VMWare, VirtualBox and/or Xen
DESIRED EXPERIENCE (OPTIONAL)
- Experience with Druid, a high-performance, column-oriented, distributed data store is an asset
- Experience with data analysis, data mining and/or machine learning frameworks such as Spark MLib, R, ROOT or others
- Experience with applied mathematics, optimization algorithms
- Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies
