The Advertiser Growth Engine Advertising Localization (AdLoc) team provides localization services for Advertisers, Marketers and Internal Amazon teams. We are focused on building processes and systems that deliver high quality localization at scale, both internally (engineering and marketing teams across Ads) and externally (Advertisers)

We have a strong culture of innovation, solving problems in creative ways. Our localization services are backed by state of the art ML Models and a team of talented linguists enabling us to deliver high quality localized content for our customers. We have launched Video and text localization solutions and are actively expanding our capabilities to support voice overs, audio and enhancing our text localization capabilities using LLMs and enhancing video localization capabilities using in-painting. We support integrated localization experience which our customers leverage to launch their advertising campaigns across different marketplaces, despite the language barriers. Additionally, we are responsible for launching ads into new marketplaces in partnership with retail.

We are looking for a Software Development Manager (SDM) with a strong sense of ownership and a passion for delivering creative solutions for complex problems on an unprecedented scale. This leader will own multiple products (mix of greenfield and non-greenfield) supporting the localization needs of our advertisers. You will manage the team engineers, have an opportunity to shape the culture and organizational design, lead the teams towards solving complex problems that would be "firsts" for Amazon, and partner close with scientists on Machine Learning in the areas of text, image and video localization. This is an opportunity to come in at the ground floor for what has become a core part of the overall Amazon business strategy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience

- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
