JOB SUMMARY
As an IT Software Development Manager, you will oversee daily development activities, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions using agile methodologies. You will lead and mentor a team of Software Developers, fostering continuous learning and professional growth. Your responsibilities include recruiting, orienting, and training team members, as well as managing the team through delegation, coaching, performance management, and career development to support company objectives.
In collaboration with POET IT Management, you will expand and enforce architecture best practices for custom-developed solutions, recommending and implementing effective technology frameworks. You will help foster collaboration with Application, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment of IT solutions across the organization. Additionally, you will promote agile principles, drive internal IT process improvements, and enhance software development processes to maintain operational excellence and a strong security posture. You will also help establish a DevOps mindset and evaluate DevOps processes to further enhance our software development practices.

- Manage day-to-day development activities using agile methodologies, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
- Lead and support Software Developers, fostering continuous learning and professional growth.
- Recruit, select, orient, and train team members, effectively managing the team through delegation, coaching, performance management, and career development.
- Collaborate with POET IT Management to expand and enforce architecture best practices for custom-developed solutions, recommending and implementing effective technology frameworks.
- Foster effective collaboration with Application, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment of IT solutions.
- Promote agile principles to encourage continuous improvement, iterative development, regular feedback, and adaptive planning.
- Suggest and implement constructive changes to internal IT business processes, promoting cross-functional team collaboration.
- Review and mature software development processes, including source control, code reviews, and framework guidelines, ensuring best practices are followed and improved.
- Evaluate current processes and recommend improvements to enhance our software development practices, leveraging industry standards and frameworks such as DevOps.

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
- Ability to lead and mentor a team of developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Strong understanding of software development processes, agile methodologies, and best practices in architecture and security.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Application, Infrastructure, and Security teams.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and technologies, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- 10+ years of development experience with involvement in various phases of software lifecycle, including:
- Application programming with C#, ASP.NET, MVC.
- Front-end web and/or mobile development using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or Microsoft Power BI.
- RESTful API's
- Relational database concepts (SQL, stored procs, schema design).
- Source Control such as TFS/DevOps.
- Experience using best-practice file transfer processes (FTP, SFTP, XML, REST, SOAP, JSON, Stored Procedures, etc.)
- Experience working in a CI/CD environment and designing pipelines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Some travel, to include overnights, may be required for this position. POET values work-life balance and is intentional about your time spent away from home.
- This position operates in an office environment working at a personal computer where you may sit or stand.
