Alkami is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our Software Tooling and DevSecOps team. The successful candidate will have experience designing and delivering reliable, scalable, and highly performant microservice and event-driven architectures leveraging Kubernetes for container orchestration, as well as DevSecOps tooling to handle build and deploy pipelines.
We're seeking an experienced engineer who has developed web and API applications and worked in a distributed, N-tier architecture environment to help us build the next generation of Alkami's digital banking platform. Our Developers work in an Agile environment and are passionate about creating a seamless user experience for our clients and their customers.

Alkami is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our Software Tooling and DevSecOps team. The successful candidate will have experience designing and delivering reliable, scalable, and highly performant microservice and event-driven architectures leveraging Kubernetes for container orchestration, as well as DevSecOps tooling to handle build and deploy pipelines.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Contribute to new features and functionality for our microservice architecture, Kubernetes infrastructure, and service communication/observability systems.
- Build and maintain tools for use by our development teams for the DevSecOps pipelines which build and deploy the Alkami platform, specializing in the microservice tier.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including performance, related to our microservices and Kubernetes systems, including debugging code to identify the root cause of issues.
- Create performant, scalable, and reliable solutions, including providing technical guidance, best practices and code examples to other integrating teams.
- Support an "inner source" model for development, enabling contributions from other development teams, while maintaining governance over the core platform.
- Document technical issues and resolutions in our knowledge base and communicate them to our customers and internal teams.
- Test-driven development while championing an API-first approach software projects, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and extensibility.
- Set up and maintain environment configurations and monitor system health
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond promptly to on-call incidents, including troubleshooting and resolving critical disruptions to ensure platform availability
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 2-4 years of experience in software development or a related field and experience working within Agile framework.
- Strong programming skills in an object oriented / functional programming language such as Java, C#, Golang, Python, Kotlin et al with proven work experience as a full-stack developer.
- Experience designing performant and scalable solutions with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes
- Experience building components and pipelines as part of a DevSecOps framework to support CI/CD for cloud-native applications
- Experience with database frameworks such as NoSQL, SQL Databases, Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks
- Experience supporting production systems, including identifying issues through monitoring, troubleshooting and resolving issues, and implementing proactive measures through alerting on key performance metrics and defensive coding
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team, with good analytical and time management skills, a bias towards action, and ability to rapidly learn new technologies and solutions to deliver value with some assistance
- Understanding and practical application of REST API best practices. Proficiency in adhering to standards, ensuring security, scalability, and optimal performance
- Developing tests including unit tests, UI automation tests, integration tests
- Understanding of the entire software development process (design, development and deployment)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience providing technical input
- Ability to participate in on call rotation
Desired Skills:
- Experience with OpenTelemetry (or similar)
- Experience designing Kubernetes-native microservice architectures, with an emphasis on scalability and performance
- Experience architecting and designing event-driven architectures
- Experience working with and designing RESTful and/or gRPC APIs
- Experience with AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructure
- Experience working with SaaS offerings in the technology and financial industries
