Introduction
As a Strategy Consultant for IBM Software and Global Sales, you will help reinvent IBM by developing and utilizing specialized knowledge of the technology industry and cross-industry competitive strategies. You'll manage complex components of an engagement, working closely with senior IBM executives, partners and customers to understand their pain points. Your role and responsibilities
The Software Strategy Consultant (consultant) is responsible for analyzing data and developing insights in support of strategy engagements for senior executive leaders in IBM Software. The ultimate objective of these engagements is to accelerate IBM's Hybrid Cloud and AI strategy. The consultant uses data/analytics, bench-marking, research and other techniques to inform the design of strategies that can transition rapidly to execution for immediate impact. Successful engagements will accelerate client adoption of IBM software platforms and drive sustainable software revenue growth. The consultant should excel at quantitative analysis - including the use of data science tools -- to assess growth opportunities, identify root causes and solve business problems. The consultant will also have a strong background in technology and the business of software to derive high-quality insights from the analyses they perform. Over time, based on the quality and impact of their work, the consultant, should become a trusted advisor to software leaders.
Responsibilities of the consultant include to:
- Perform data analysis, quantitative modeling, market analysis, competitive bench-marking, expert interviews, operational analysis and root cause identification
- Support strategic discussions with senior software executives, demonstrating acumen in the software business in the process
- Formulate decision-ready recommendations for senior business leaders
- Help structure and support change initiatives to deliver targeted business outcomes
- Support their teammates as needed to deliver commitments to clients
- Meet the planning, control, and administration of any financial activities related to assigned projects
Ultimately, the Consultant should be a role model of how to deliver strategy project and business outcomes with speed and precision.
Key Skills and Behaviors
Data and analytics: Deep skills and understanding of data and analytical methods to yield strategic insight, including root cause and statistical analyses. This includes advanced use of Excel and data science methods and tools (e.g., SQL, etc.)
Technology/Software: A background in technology, ideally software. And a passion for technology and growing a software business.
