Job Description:
As a Soldier Lethality Support Specialist at Sherpa 6 Inc., you will play a vital role in enhancing the operational effectiveness of our soldiers. You will work closely with the APEO Futures team, focusing on soldier lethality initiatives and solutions across the Close Combat Integration Enterprise. The Soldier Lethality Support Specialist position requires in-depth knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of soldier lethality concepts, technologies, and methodologies, enabling the individual to effectively analyze, develop, and implement strategies that enhance the operational effectiveness and survivability of our soldiers in the field. The ideal candidate should possess a strong desire to gain a thorough understanding of the Army Acquisition Support Center (ASA ALT) and the Army Futures Command (AFC), as this knowledge is essential for effectively navigating the defense acquisition landscape and contributing to the advancement of soldier lethality initiatives. Your responsibilities will include conducting research, developing strategies to improve integration across future systems, and collaborating with various stakeholders to include the Development Command (DEVCOM), Maneuver-Combat Development and Integration Directorate (M-CDID), other Program Office Executives, and Army Future Command (AFC) entities to ensure that our Soldiers are equipped with the necessary tools and technologies to succeed in their missions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Research and Analysis:?Conduct comprehensive research on current technology gaps and future requirements related to Soldier lethality, while also examining existing and emerging Programs of Record capabilities and integration gaps. Analyze data to generate actionable insights and recommendations that will inform the development and implementation of effective Soldier lethality solutions.
- Collaboration:?Collaborate as part of a cross-functional team, engaging with engineers, program managers, and military personnel, to develop a comprehensive lethality approach for the Army's Squad as a System concept and the Army of 2040. This includes identifying opportunities across multiple government agencies and connecting the dots to create synergies that lead to the design and implementation of innovative Soldier lethality solutions tailored to meet evolving operational requirements for our government clients.
- Communication:?Present findings and strategies effectively to internal teams and external stakeholders, including senior-level general officers and Senior Executive Service (SES) members across the Combat Capabilities Integration Center (CCIE), ensuring clarity and understanding of complex concepts related to soldier lethality. Additionally, effectively capture this information in the annual Project Polaris document produced by APEO Futures to provide a comprehensive overview of initiatives and progress.
- Program Support:?Support the efforts of Project Polaris by collaborating on the planning, execution, and evaluation of soldier lethality programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and military requirements. This includes facilitating integration efforts and identifying opportunities across multiple government agencies to create synergies that drive the design and implementation of innovative soldier lethality solutions tailored to meet the evolving operational requirements of our government clients.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Military Science, Engineering, Defense Studies, etc.).
- Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of soldier lethality concepts and technologies.
- Prior experience in defense acquisition, program management, or related fields is preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- Willingness to travel as needed for business purposes.
- Familiarity with defense acquisition processes and frameworks is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in defense acquisition or military operations, with a focus on soldier lethality initiatives.
- Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineers, program managers, and military personnel, in the development and implementation of defense-related projects.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience effectively communicating complex concepts and strategies to senior leaders, including general officers and Senior Executive Service (SES) members.
- Strong understanding of soldier lethality technologies and methodologies, with a demonstrated ability to identify technology gaps and future requirements.
- Experience in integrating and coordinating efforts across multiple government agencies to achieve program goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and project management tools.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to generate actionable insights from data.
- Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports for diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data effectively.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience within the Army Acquisition Support Center (ASA ALT) or Army Futures Command (AFC).
- Prior experience working on soldier lethality programs or initiatives at the program manager level or higher.
- Familiarity with current and emerging programs of record capabilities related to soldier lethality.
- Experience in conducting research and analysis on defense technologies and their integration into military operations.
- Knowledge of the Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition process and regulatory requirements.
- Prior experience in a government contracting environment, particularly related to defense acquisition.
- Strong network and relationships within military and defense communities, enhancing collaboration opportunities.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Military Science, Engineering, Defense Studies) is preferred.
- Experience in project management methodologies and tools, including Agile or Lean practices.
