ECS is seeking a Solution Architect to work in a hybrid capacity in our Fairfax, VA office and at various government facilities and installations to support the development and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud Solutions for DoD customers.
ECS is an expert technology firm focused on physical and cloud solutions exceeding our customer's technical needs. We specialize in migrating custom-developed, COTS and GOTS applications into premium cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). We also offer a complete suite of managed service solutions for our customers, to include design, architecture, DevOps, systems administration, big data, security, and 24x7 cloud support services.
The Solution Architect will provide hands-on expertise in DoD network systems for teams supporting large DoD programs that operate and maintain multiple IL 4/5 and IL6 cloud environments and DoD networks, and that take advantage of the many benefits offered by commercial cloud hosting and on-premise infrastructure (e.g., the ability to accelerate IT delivery, efficiency, and innovation).
The Solution Architect will support client teams developing and/or enriching applications in a hybrid cloud environment, as well as providing maintenance and support in both classified and unclassified environments with the goal of providing stable, secure, flexible, efficient, and cost-effective frameworks. The Solution Architect will report to the SUNet Enterprise Infrastructure Services Director, and will routinely engage with customers, engineers, and supporting mission partners.

Responsibilities include:
- Develop architecture recommendations for customers looking to stand up a network in a DoD environment.
- Provide technical expertise to project teams maintaining and updating environments for DoD customers.
- Evaluate customer issues and make educated decisions on technologies, tools, and the overall delivery strategy.
- Successfully communicate to customers, contract program managers, industry partners, ECS senior management, and Government representatives.
- Provide leadership and creativity in new business capture and proposal development.
- Track industry trends and leverage them to drive innovation and solution excellence across various functional domains.
- Collaborate with operations, technical, and business development managers, and ECS Centers of Excellence on key components of large solutions.

- Active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance with SCI indoctrination.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; Information Systems Management; or similar Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
- Local resource with the willingness to work in a hybrid remote / onsite capacity in Fairfax, Virginia.
- DOD 8570-01M Certification: IAM Level I or higher (e.g., Security+), with IAT Level II qualification in one of the following within 60 calendar days of hire: Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, SSCP, GICSP, GSEC, or CISSP.
- 7+ years of related experience in cybersecurity, Enterprise IT architecture, technology related roles including prior hands-on work.
- Highly technical, with a deeply analytical possessing mind-set.
- Proven experience in communicating and demonstrating the value of technical solutions to a variety of stakeholders in order to address complex and competing drivers in complex technical environments.
- Depth of understanding of data management and security.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges specific to downstream customers.
- 7+ years of IT platform fundamentals experience.
- 7+ years of relevant experience delivering and sustaining technical and cloud solutions.
- 7+ years of experience with customer-facing cloud projects (AWS & Azure preferred).
- Knowledge of industry Cybersecurity frameworks, Zero Trust, SASE architecture, and MITRE ATT&CK Framework.
- Demonstrated customer focus and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
- Fundamental understanding of AI/ML operations and development-to-field lifecycle.
- Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS (passport required) for occasional program/customer support (
