Echocardiography Sonographer Position Summary

• The Cardiac Sonographer performs echo studies and provides preliminary reading at a level of competence not requiring supervision of technical detail in an outpatient setting. Informs the provider of critical results and participates in quality assurance and case studies related to the operations of the office. Supervises staff and associated requirements.

Echocardiography Sonographer Position Requirements

• Ability to read and communicate in the English language.
• For all Patient Care area positions refer to the policy: Mandatory Education Classes/Hours
• Maintain weekly pt schedule.
• Accommodate add on patients as ordered by providers.
• Work with staff and referring providers to adequately get pts scheduled.
• Handle all internal diagnostic issues.
• Review templates for accuracy, handle EPIC scheduling issues.
• Work on Diagnostic WQs
• Participate in Accreditation process.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in Cardiac Ultrasound from an accredited college or university.

Echocardiography Sonographer License and/or Certification Requirements

• Current registry as a Cardiac Sonographer.
  • RDCS or RCS required.
• Must possess current BLS certification.
