MRI, a woman-owned Technologies and Engineering Services company, has an exciting opportunity for a Spacecraft Guidance Navigation and Control Engineer on the GeoXO team.
About the Role
GeoXO is seeking a highly skilled Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Spacecraft Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) with a strong background in Attitude Determination (AD). The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of hands-on experience and the ability to contribute with minimal oversight. This role will be instrumental in advancing our spacecraft GNC capabilities, particularly in attitude determination and sensor modeling.

Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine attitude determination algorithms for spacecraft.
- Apply Extended Kalman Filters (EKF) for state estimation and navigation solutions.
- Model and analyze star tracker and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) performance to enhance system accuracy.
- Conduct Green Chart/Allan Variance gyro performance assessments to evaluate and optimize spacecraft stability.
- Utilize MATLAB and Simulink for spacecraft modeling, simulation, and performance validation.
- Provide expertise in spacecraft navigation systems with limited guidance and oversight.
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in spacecraft GNC, with a strong emphasis on attitude determination.
- Expertise in Extended Kalman Filters (EKF) and state estimation techniques.
- Proficiency in star tracker and IMU modeling for spacecraft applications.
- Strong background in Green Chart/Allan Variance analysis for gyro performance evaluation.
- Advanced proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink for modeling and simulation.
- Ability to work independently and provide expert-level support with minimal direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with operational space missions and real-world spacecraft attitude control systems.
- Familiarity with mission-specific challenges related to GeoXO or similar Earth observation platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in spacecraft navigation and sensor fusion.
