MIGA Operations are headed by the Vice President (VP), Operations, who is supported by a small front office team. The VP Operations is responsible for the MIGA operational engagements and underwriting globally, and the delivery of programs and projects associated with the WBG Guarantee Platform. The MIGCO Front Office support the VP to manage relationships within MIGA - including coordination with the offices Executive VP, the VP MIGCC, and the MIGOP Directors for Industries and Financial Institutions, as well as with clients and entities across the WBG. The FO supports the EVP in preparing for the credit committee meetings as well as for all documents requiring approval or signature.
Duties and accountabilities
The Special Assistant is expected to assist VP Operations in the execution of the Agency's priorities and goals. Specifically, the selected candidate will:
Act as the secretariat to MIGOP management meetings to track progress and help the VP in steering the agenda towards MIGA's priority areas and commitments. Support the VP in preparation of agendas, recording decisions, and making sure that key issues are discussed and addressed in a timely manner.
Coordinate inputs, prepare documents and conduct analysis on various engagements (e.g., MIGA projects, management issues, WBG priorities) in order to advise the VP of key areas that warrant her/his attention.
Coordinate with the offices of the EVP, VP MIGCS, and MDs and VPs in the IBRD/IDA and IFC to ensure operational cooperation and coordination on WBG matters and to ensure MIGA is adequately represented in such matters. In a similar manner, where relevant, manage VP's engagement with the Board.
Monitor and ensure appropriate implementation of actions, decisions and commitments made by the VP by working with the parties responsible for implementation.
Review with appropriate staff, briefing papers, correspondence for the VP's signature, talking points, speeches and any other material prepared for the VP.
Build and cultivate relationships with MIGA management and staff and help flag any issues that may need the VP's attention.
Prepare and review briefs for the VP's travel and engagements.
Keep abreast of various topics and developments of interest to MIGA in order to brief the VP.
Accompany the VP on travel as necessary.
Selection Criteria
Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MML) and sustained record of achieving high-quality substantive results over an extended period (at least 8 years of experience).;
Practical knowledge of World Bank Group structures, strategies, programs, products and systems, and a strong willingness to continuously learn
Demonstrated experience working on WBG country strategies, with financial markets, and with country office/field experience.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and provide substantive support on policy, operational, and administrative issues.
Demonstrated ability to build and form networks across the WBG, and to work across organizational hierarchies effectively
Outstanding written and oral communication skills, and ability to synthesize complex issues and substantial documentation into effective oral and written briefs.
Superb organization and problem-solving skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize under tight deadlines.
Flexibility to address a wide range of issues and situations, often at short notice.
High degree of discretion, tact, and sensitivity in dealing with internal and external clients, staff, and managers, and in handling confidential and sensitive matters.
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively in teams, and with management and staff at all levels.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Willingness to work long hours and to travel.
