Base Salary Range (1.0 FTE): $60,678 - $114,367*
Professional Learning Stipend (1.0 FTE): $6,660- $12,552*
Supplemental Contract: Six (6) additional days per diem

Are you passionate about leading inclusive practices that help every student thrive? Steilacoom Historical School District is seeking a collaborative and student-centered Special Education Coordinator to support our schools in creating equitable, inclusive learning environments. In this district-wide role, you'll work closely with educators, families, and community partners to support students with disabilities through coaching, professional development, and systems-level planning. You'll guide school teams in implementing MTSS, strengthening IEP processes, and expanding access to inclusive settings. We're looking for an educational leader who brings deep knowledge of special education, strong communication skills, and a passion for building staff capacity to ensure all students feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills
  • Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certificate in School Psychology.
  • Minimum of five years of successful experience in school psychology, including conducting evaluations, supporting IEP development, and collaborating with teams to serve students with disabilities.
  • Strong relationship building skills and experience working with other educators and partners to provide services.
  • Knowledge of strength-focused instructional strategies for students, specifically to support unexpected behaviors, that promotes autonomy, cooperation and student voice.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) across academic, behavioral, and/or social-emotional domains
  • Proven ability to build staff capacity through coaching, professional development, or collaborative problem-solving
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster effective collaboration with families, educators, and community partners
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, manage competing priorities, and work flexibly in a fast-paced educational setting
  • Experience supporting adult learners about best instructional strategies for students with disabilities, including recognition of the role anxiety may play in a student's progress with services.
  • Successful experience or demonstrated commitment toward working with culturally and racially diverse students, families and communities.
  • Successful experience leading teams in the development of behavior support plans, emergency response and safety plans.
  • Ability to maintain records with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.


Desired Qualifications and Skills:
  • Training or experience in pro-neurodiversity-focused approaches.
  • Advanced Right Response training/certification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with military-connected students and families.
  • Bilingual skills.
