Position Summary: The Special Projects Coordinator for the Senior Executive Director of Strategy plays a key role within New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) and the Office of the Chancellor through the active implementation of key agency-wide commitments. The Special Projects Coordinator manages the development, execution, and follow-through of internal and/or external priority projects assigned by the Senior Executive Director of Strategy and the Chancellor. The Special Projects Coordinator also works closely with the COO's Senior Leadership team to problem-solve, facilitate policy objectives, and ensure that key policy questions are brought to resolution and acted on efficiently and effectively.
The Special Projects Coordinator works closely with and supports the Senior Executive Director of Strategy, Associate Director of Strategy and Chief of Staff through the handling of information requiring discretion in executing critical cross-functional projects that include but are not limited to advancing the Chancellor's commitments and agency-wide priorities. Performs related work.

Key Relationships: Chief of Staff to the Chancellor; Deputy Chief of Staff to the Chancellor; Executive Assistant to the Chancellor; NYCPS Senior Leadership Team; Chancellor's Cabinet; representatives from the Mayor's Office and City Hall; City, State, and Federal agency and department representatives; local parent leaders (CEC and PEP members); and external stakeholders (i.e., community-based organizations, consultants, vendors, etc.).

Qualification Requirements:
Minimum
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in "1" above.

Salary : $82,000 - $90,200
(Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.)

Responsibilities
Advisor and Pilot for Assigned Special Projects
- Engages and works with key community stakeholders that would be pivotal in the successful completion of various projects and key strategic objectives.
- Attends meetings and travels with the Senior Executive Director of Strategy as assigned; ensures timely follow-up, analysis and dissemination of important information through communications.
- Manages the finalization of all written materials from the Senior Executive Director of Strategy, including talking points, emails, remarks, and draft communications; escalates issues or high-priority items to the Chief of Staff and Senior Executive Director of Strategy as needed.
- Executes critical cross-functional projects that advance the Senior Executive Director of Strategy's agenda, including developing strategic recommendations, creating and managing work plans, conducting research and analysis, and helping to define and track success metrics.
- Helps build foundational relationships with the community that help drive community-driven input.
- Follows up on various requests for the Associate Director of Strategy, including planning events, writing correspondence, and addressing parent and community concerns.
- Works with senior staff to identify key short- and long-term priorities and creatively develop well-rounded strategies for executing and following through on projects that execute these established priorities.
- Develops and executes cadence of meetings for the Senior Executive Director of Strategy's Leadership Team, to ensure collaboration and execution of all special projects and initiatives.
- Closely collaborates with the Executive Assistant in the coordination of the Senior Executive Director's schedule and strategic planning.
Support for the Associate Director of Special Projects to the Senior Executive Director of Strategy
- In partnership with the Associate Director of Special Projects, works with representatives of the Senior Executive Director of Strategy's Leadership Team to ensure special projects relating to key policy issues are appropriately resolved.
- Assist with the facilitation of internal and external working groups and engages leadership in key decision points and addressing parent and community concerns.
- Develops meeting agendas, tracks decision points, and follows through on all projects until complete.
- Supports the Associate Director of Special Projects in overseeing and liaising with partnering offices.
- Works on special projects and meetings such as content briefings, executive sessions, special events, among other duties as assigned.
- Strategizes with the Associate Director of Special Projects to cultivate and manage the Senior Director of Strategy's relationships with key stakeholders, including schools, parents, community groups, principals, and teachers, as well as with external organizations, in order to build broad support for the Chancellor's agenda and strategic priorities.
