Your primary role as Mining Equipment Specialist is to drive all the operating facilities to achieve the highest level of reliability for mining equipment through a systematic approach and coordinated efforts. You will also utilize a holistic system to benchmark the performance, identify gaps and deploy comprehensive solutions to enhance mining equipment reliability and continuous improvement.

Additionally, you will work jointly with subject matter experts and multidisciplinary teams leading and supporting troubleshooting, investigations, technical programs, and regional strategy development.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 15 years of industry experience in Mining Equipment engineering role including 10 years in Mine Maintenance & Reliability engineering.
  • Rich experience in mobile mining equipment selection, strategy development, commissioning, condition monitoring, troubleshooting, major maintenance and reliability improvements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the processes and systems used in the stages of mobile mine equipment life cycle management.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting trending, statistical analysis and data analysis to evaluate the current system performance, predict future state, determine optimal repair and replacement frequencies and drive continuous improvement.
  • Highly effective people and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to influence enterprise-wide mining equipment performance.


Responsibilities
  • Engage and collaborate with internal Suncor technical experts to understand opportunities and to consult on reliability matters. Engage with peers at other mining sites to understand best in region opportunities.
  • Apply design knowledge, operational use and expertise to mining equipment to proactively identify and mitigate potential reliability, safety, or operational problems.
  • Apply an asset lifecycle leading practice to manage our assets through the entire life cycle, considering the intended use, requirements, specifications and other factors at each stage in the life of the asset to maximize its availability and reliability.
  • Lead and participate in structured analysis processes such as root cause analysis (RCA), bad actors elimination, risk assessments, RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) and solution development.
  • Employ knowledge of concepts, processes, technology and equipment to ensure Suncor requirements, best practices and lessons learned are elements of the operation and maintenance of assets, including reliability assessment and improvement, condition monitoring, procedures for equipment repair, equipment strategies, total life cycle cost optimization, and tribology.
  • Coordinate with all operating sites in reporting performance indicators and using the data to identify improvement plans and prioritize with cost-benefit analysis.
  • As a reliability subject matter expert, maintain Technical Authority system, facilitate competency development and coaching for the mining equipment discipline.
  • Regularly travel to Suncor sites for proactive engagement of site teams and be able to provide off-hours support to address urgent operational issues.


Location and Other Details:
  • You will work out of our Syncrude Mildred Lake location in Fort McMurray or our Calgary head office.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
