About the workplace

As a Specialist, Retirement, you'll support the administration, analysis, and enrolment in pension plans, as well as addressing employee questions. You'll collaborate closely with the Sr. Consultant for Retirement & Financial Wellbeing on various projects and initiatives. You'll also work with people and culture teams, payroll, systems, and service providers. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to create and update intranet pages and other employee communications, making a significant impact on our team's success.

This role is a permanent, full-time role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, you'll be required to attend in-person activities or events.

A typical day would involve:

  • Perform enrolment procedures for new hires and employee transfers between pension plans according to plan text, policies and procedures. Track membership and correspond with employees regarding enrolment.
  • Review, track, and process pension-related invoices to ensure accuracy and timely payments.
  • Conduct system analysis, review processes, and make recommendations to improve efficiencies, reporting, policies, and procedures.
  • Work on special projects with the Group RRSP and Defined Benefit pension plans, supporting the Total Rewards team, including pension analysis as required.
  • Update pension information pages on the internal website.
  • Provide pension expertise in discussions with and responding to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner to provide a positive employee experience.
  • Prepare data, collaborate and respond to inquiries from plan administrators, prepare accurate data for annual reporting and provide necessary data to payroll as required.


You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Mathematics or other related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in a related role, including pension administration
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or Pension Plan Administration Certificate (PPAC) designation or equivalent is a nice to have
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • An ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong customer service and verbal and written communication skills

The salary range for the role is $64,500 to $96,500 and a candidate's offer is likely to be up to the mid-point of the role ($80,500). The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.
