JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The Academic Support Coach / Specialist of Curriculum supports and enhances instructional practices across the district by modeling lessons, facilitating professional development, developing curriculum resources, and collaborating with staff to improve student achievement. The role involves managing content-specific instructional programs, curriculum planning, and aligning practices with district goals. Time is divided between office-based planning and school-based support, focusing on ensuring the implementation of effective instructional strategies and monitoring academic progress.

- Master's Degree in education or related field preferred
License / Certification Required
- Colorado Teaching License in subject area specified
- CLDE and ReadAct Preferred
Work Experience Required
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience (five years preferred)
- Minimum of three years of successful leadership experience preferred
- Two years of building administrative experience preferred

FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Management
- Coordinate, plan, and implement curricular course offerings and instructional practices.
- Develop and manage curriculum maps with a focus on closing achievement gaps, including assessments.
- Model lessons demonstrating rigor, relevance, and differentiation.
- Align district curriculum with state standards and provide recommendations for supplemental materials.
- Provide instructional support bridging CLDE, Core Content, and Special Education within lesson and curriculum design.
- Identify effective interventions and remediation programs to increase student achievement.
- Facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) with a strong focus on lesson internalization, student work analysis, and data-driven instruction.
- Monitor campus and classroom student data to identify instructional improvement areas.
- Provide leadership for vertical and horizontal instructional planning among grade levels or departments.
- Design and deliver professional development aligned with identified needs, including curriculum components and instructional strategies.
- Collaborate with school leadership and district personnel to develop professional learning opportunities.
- Provide job-embedded professional development and monitor implementation.
- Maintain expertise in content areas, identify trends, and inform instruction with current research.
- Support grant writing efforts to fund instructional and professional development initiatives.

- Provide expertise and technical assistance for programs such as ELD, Humanities, STEM, Science, Gifted Education, and Special Education. Priority focus for this role will be on mathematics.
- Collaborate with departments to ensure alignment of activities and goals with student needs.
- Lead activities such as district-wide competitions (e.g., Science and History Fairs) and professional development for specialized programs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- May supervise paraprofessional staff, instructional coaches, or other assigned personnel.
