This is a full-time position that supports Stony Creek Elementary and Prairie Junior High.
Speech Language Pathologist to work with students who present a variety of communication and language challenges.
Illinois Teaching Certification in Speech-Language Pathology required.
Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
The speech pathologist is responsible for organizing and implementing a therapy program to meet the needs of speech, language, communication and hearing impaired students and meeting the duties of teaching whatever techniques are appropriate to the nature of the disability.

Educator License Information System (ELIS) Teaching or Non-Teaching SLP endorsement
Master's in speech-language pathology from a program approved by theISBE, which includes a clinical practicum of 375 hours for speech-language pathologists Passage of the Praxis exam
Designing the exceptional student education program so that it isconsistent with the total educational philosophy of the district
Preparing educational plans annually for each student based onindividually assessed needs in accordance with district procedures
Preparing therapy plans for each student Providing appropriate schedules for exceptional students involving schoolpersonnel as required
Conducting speech and language screening once a year for allkindergarten students and all students not previously enrolled in school
Seeking a variety of services through community resources and agenciesto meet the needs of exceptional students
Principal Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Participating in the in-school staffing and screening processes asappropriate
Participating on evaluation teams for speech, language, communicationand hearing impaired students as appropriate
Develop and maintain I.E.P.'s for assigned students and ensure thatappropriate and necessary data is in place and coordinated/articulated toparents and school personnel
Providing speech and/or hearing screening tests for all students referredby the in-school staffing committee
Providing diagnostic/evaluation testing for students failing speechscreening
Developing and conducting an in-service program to inform classroomteacher of the goals and objectives of the speech program and ways ofachieving them in the school setting
Conferring with the classroom teacher as requested concerning anyeducational needs of the student
Making available to teachers instructional ideas that are appropriate forexceptional students within the classroom situation
Provide consultative and advisory data for school personnel, parents, orother related professional disciplines
Perform other duties as assigned by building principal or Director ofSpecial Education
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicateand interact with students, other faculty, staff, and parents as normallydefined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects andcontrols
The position also entails significant walking, bending, standing, stooping,and possible physical interventions in order to maintain a safe learningenvironment
The employee should have the physical capabilities to perform all jobfunctions
