Job Title: Speech Pathologist

Shift: Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

License: Active State SLP License

Certifications: Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology, American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certification, BLS - American Heart Association

Must-Have: Ability to perform video swallows as well as evaluations and treatments for a Level 1 Trauma Center

Job Description:

- Evaluate patients' speech, language, and cognitive abilities to formulate effective treatment plans for restoring communication.
- Conduct swallowing evaluations and make appropriate recommendations for managing dysphagia.
- Perform flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) examinations upon physician referral, if privileged.
- Discuss evaluation and treatment plans with patients and families, educating them on techniques to address communication and swallowing issues.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust therapy goals and treatment plans as required, and determine when maximum recovery is achieved.
- Communicate significant changes in patients' conditions to physicians.
- Review patients' charts, conduct interviews, and collaborate with other clinical professionals for comprehensive patient evaluation.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to exchange patient and treatment information.
- Participate in committees, educate other disciplines about the scope of practice, and contribute to promoting the Speech Therapy Department in the community.
- Supervise and evaluate students, orient and train new department staff, and oversee clinical internships when assigned.
- Maintain accurate documentation including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Attend mandatory meetings and educational programs to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
- Support continuous quality improvement efforts aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction.
