General Summary of Position
Unit Highlights
The C53 Neurology Medicine & Epilepsy Monitoring Unitis a 14-bed, all private room neurosciences specialty unit at MedstarGeorgetown University Hospital, a five-time designated Magnet Hospital. C53 nurses work collaboratively with members ofthe interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide high-quality,patient-centered, specialty care to neurological patients, postoperativeneurosurgical patients with brain and spine disorders and general medicinepatients, as well as specialized epilepsy monitoring patients.

Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations and critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses.

- Epilepsy Center, a comprehensive program for evaluation andtreatment of epilepsy including diagnosis, drug therapy, and epilepsy surgery
- National Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence forParkinson's disease and other movement disorders for specialized evaluation andtreatments, including deep brain stimulation
- Multiple Sclerosis Center, the largest in the mid-Atlantic,with an international reputation as a referral center for special therapies
Neuromuscular Diseases Clinic, offered in conjunction withthe Muscular Dystrophy Association - Multidisciplinary Spine Center, offering advanced treatmentfor spinal cord tumors, spine cancer, neck disorders and degenerativeconditions, often through minimally invasive surgical techniques or CyberKnife

Qualifications
- ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
- Prior Clinical Nursing Experience preferred.
- Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required.
