POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Provide high-quality, cross-culturally sensitive spiritual care to patients, families, and staff throughout the University of Washington Medical Center - Montlake with a specialized focus on our NICU, postpartum, antepartum, and labor and delivery units
Ensure service excellence related to spiritual care of patients, patient caregivers, staff, staff education and organizational integration.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide spiritual care to patients, responding to requests for service in a timely manner; document spiritual care assessments, interventions, outcomes, plans of care; offer and receive consultation with the health care team in delivery of patient care, functioning in collaborative, cooperative manner, make appropriate referrals
Serve as an advocate that respects and articulates patients' and families' spiritual needs in balance with healthcare team on delivery of patient centered care
Round regularly with Spiritual Care team members and clinical care teams for referrals and be in consultation with healthcare team on delivery of patient centered care
Mentor and provide leadership to new staff and learners as Spiritual Care & Wellbeing department designates
Support staff by wellbeing rounding, Tea for the Soul, post code blue support, debriefings, grief, staff emergencies and other wellbeing support
Teach staff/faculty learners about spiritual distress, how/when to make a referral, and spiritual health's integral role in patient care outcomes
Teach staff to recognize psycho-social-spiritual dimensions of grief and loss, moral distress, secondary traumatic stress and to develop strategies for maintaining professional well-being, resilience, self-compassion and compassionate patient care
Strong candidates will be a Board Certified Chaplain, certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), or equivalent certifying body and have a minimum 2 years of experience as a Clinical Spiritual Care Provider in healthcare with experience in palliative care populations. Experience in a NICU/ICU setting, as well as fluency in Spanish, is desired.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Master of Divinity (MDiv) or equivalent from seminary accredited by the Association of Theological Schools
Have completed at least one unit of CPE in the ACPE Program. Preference to those who have completed four units of CPE
Must be in good standing with a nationally recognized religious, spiritual, or philosophical body.
