Job Description:
As a SQL Server DBA, you will be responsible for administering and supporting SQL Server databases in an enterprise environment. This includes performing installations, upgrades, and routine maintenance, as well as ensuring high availability, performance tuning, and adherence to security protocols. The role also involves Windows Server administration and working in a high-demand, mission-critical setting requiring 24/7 support availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, upgrade, and patch SQL Server instances to maintain stability and performance
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks including index rebuilds, statistics updates, and consistency checks
  • Monitor and troubleshoot errors using SQL native tools such as Profiler, Extended Events, and DMVs
  • Manage security through user access, authentication methods, roles, and auditing practices
  • Plan and optimize storage and capacity for both standalone and clustered SQL Server environments
  • Develop, implement, and test backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery
  • Design and execute disaster recovery plans to meet business continuity goals
  • Develop and tune T-SQL scripts, manage ETL operations, and improve database performance
  • Implement high availability configurations including SQL Server Mirroring and Always On
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support for critical systems as part of an on-call rotation
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience administering SQL Server 2016 or later
  • Proficient with SQL Server tools including Profiler, Index Tuning Advisor, and Configuration Manager
  • Skilled in managing security, auditing, and encryption for data at rest, in transit, and in backup
  • Expertise in storage planning, disk space management, and performance tuning
  • Experience with SQL Server Broker, MSDTC, Linked Servers, and managing system databases
  • Proven success in creating and restoring backups, including point-in-time recovery
  • At least 5 years of Windows Server administration with PowerShell scripting capability
  • Knowledge of endpoint protection, Nessus scanning, and Windows Server roles and services
  • Experience maintaining Windows Failover Clusters and .NET Framework components
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and in teams

The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $75.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
