Sr. Accountant - E&P

As a key member of the E&P team, this individual will be responsible for the execution of accounting close responsibilities for various operational accounting processes. These processes include capital and LOE accruals, unproved leasehold accounting, acquisition and divestiture accounting, DD&A, ARO, AFE set-up reviews, and other operational reporting. In addition, this individual will assist in the evaluation of non-routine transactions, process improvement efforts, and other duties as assigned. A successful individual in this position will need to demonstrate initiative, communicate effectively to various stakeholders, develop others, and drive collaboration.

PRIMARY RELATIONSHIPS:

Accounting, Internal Audit, Reserves Engineering, Operations, Land, Business Development, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, Legal, and Tax. External relationships include auditor(s), third party buyers/sellers, JV partners, and consultants.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• Perform accounting close activities and ensure effective operation of controls and processes
• Prepare and deliver meaningful financial information, performance metrics, analysis, and reports within functional area
• Apply accounting principles and understand financial statement and disclosure impacts
• Understand accounting and finance actions and stakeholder impacts outside area of responsibility and work towards common objectives and outcomes aligning to the company's business priorities
• Effectively communicate to various stakeholders
• Identify, recommend, and assist in the implementation of process and reporting improvements within functional area or across other functions
• Analyze, evaluate, and conclude on complex, non-routine transactions
• Timely respond to audit requests
• Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
• Ability to learn new and changing systems and applications
• Ability to prioritize and plan work activities, set goals, use time efficiently, and manage competing demands

• Working knowledge of SAP Projects, Assets, FICO modules is a plus, as is Power BI and Alteryx

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, with emphasis in Accounting or Finance; MS/MBA preferred
• CPA preferred
• Knowledge of oil and gas accounting
• Minimum of 4+ years of relevant work experience required (6+ years in lieu of education)

LOCATION/WORK SCHEDULE: Denver - Hybrid with ability to commute to the Denver office on short notice and as needed to support business requirements; this role should expect 2-3+ days in office on average per month.

SALARY RANGE: $85,000 To $105,000 Annually
