Pay Range: $72,571 - $118,102 per year
Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. The pay range for each role reflects Rush's anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.

Summary:
This position prepares financial statements and reports for internal and external users. Performs financial analysis, completes journal entries and financial reports. Assists with the month end close process. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
3 years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem solving and financial analytical skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong time-management skills.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.
Demonstrates a desire to continuously improve accounting and financial reporting skills through proactive professional development efforts.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
CPA or master's degree.
Healthcare industry experience.
Advanced Excel skills.
Knowledge of accounting for hospital revenue cycle.
Experience with reimbursement and revenue cycle.
Medicare cost report and reimbursement experience.

Responsibilities:
This position may be responsible for one or more of the following job responsibilities.
Prepares and maintains general ledger, financial position statements, and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Reports the monthly and year-to-date financial results.
May compiles relevant data analysis and projections based on collateral information for developing annual budget proposals.
Manages bank accounts, including reconciliation of monthly bank statements and cash flow.
Monitors and maintains positive cash positions.
Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures related to financial functions.
Develops reports related to financial performance.
Schedules annual financial and tax audits and coordinates data and information in a timely manner.
Coordinates and ensures the timely filing of Federal and State government Forms 1120, 990, Estimated Income Taxes, 1096 & 1099s, and Sales & Use Taxes.
Directs and ensures the validity of the accounts payable and receivable processes.
Works closely with other staff to accurately calculate and report liabilities and receivables.
Monitors and reports status of annual fees.
Maintains general ledger system and software for accurate reporting and tracking of monthly and year-to-date assets, liabilities, equity, revenues, and expenses.
Manages the Fixed Assets and other supply items purchasing processes by balancing the appropriate cost and item performance relative to its intended use.
Coordinates, and directs the duties and activities associated with finance personnel and other support staff in the execution of goals and objectives.
Work closely with other staff in the development of financial reporting and distribution methodologies.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities below performed only in Cost Accounting/Reimbursement AU:
Prepares and compiles analysis and statistics for the completion and support of Medicare cost reports, cost report audits, and cost report appeals.
Completes Federal applications including: Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) 855 Forms.
Prepares and compiles analysis and statistics for the completion and support of Blue Cross, Medicaid and Tricare/Champus cost reports and audits.
Prepares CMS Occupational Mix Survey.
Prepares and compiles analysis and work papers required for various Internal and External financial audits including: Contractual Allowances, Third Party Liabilities, Designated/Undesignated reserves, and Compliance Reserves.
Analyzes and prepares Schedule H of the IRS Form 990 including: analysis and computation of cost-to-charge ratio, Medicare shortfall/surplus, Medicaid shortfall/surplus and other means-tested programs, and Education and Research income and expense review.
Calculates net patient service revenue.
Performs financial analysis, journal entries and reconciliations used in the monthly preparation of financial reporting.
Prepares monthly financial statements.
Identifies and explains RUMC and ROPH Hospital volume and revenue budget variances.
Assists in the preparation of annual budgets and long-term financial plans for ROPH and the physician groups.
Assesses third party liabilities, designated/undesignated reserves and compliance reserves.
Works with the Office of Community Engagement to assist in the completion of the financial portion of the Illinois Attorney General Community Benefit Report.
Assists in satisfying ad hoc information requests from senior financial management.
Collaborates with Healthcare Finance and the Managed Care Contracting department to understand and assess issues impacting revenue cycle performance.
Collaborates with Information Systems to create various financial reports using Epic Accounts Receivable System
Responsible for the settlement of Global Transplants, International Health Settlements and Whirlpool Settlements among Rush Oak Park, Rush Health and physician practices.
Also responsible for subsidized health services, Charity Care and Bad Debt policies and expenses, Health Services and Benefits Operations, Community Benefit Operations, Cash and In-kind contributions, Community Building Services, and Financial Statement Analysis.
Researches federal and state regulations for changes in reimbursement methodology and to project how changes in federal regulations effect net revenue.
Represents ROPH on the Community Health Needs Assessment Advisory Committee (CHNA).
Completes and timely files various governmental and non-governmental surveys including: IHA Survey, AHA Survey, IDPH Surveys (Hospital, SNF, Annual Bed Report), OBRA 93 Survey, and Low Income Utilization Survey.
Assists in the completing of sales tax and property tax exemptions (STAX-300 and PTAX 300) forms.
Other duties as assigned.
