Sr. Advanced Asic / FPGA Engineer

Cannonsburg, PA

Contract Position

$73.16-$78.16/Hour

Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and integrate custom FPGA firmware for advanced torpedo SONAR arrays and electronic assemblies in collaboration with the U.S. Navy and industry partners.
• Develop, integrate, test, and support FPGA firmware for torpedo systems, ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency.
• Lead ASIC/FPGA design, including architecture definition, system simulation, and detailed design.
• Define module interfaces, simulation plans, and functional verification criteria.
• Evaluate process flows, including synthesis, place and route, timing, and power utilization.
• Review vendor capabilities, foundry technologies, and device libraries for optimal component selection.
• Develop and present technical requirements, designs, and results to management, teammates, and customers.
• Provide technical oversight on subcontractor deliverables, including proposal evaluation and source selection.
• Lead small teams or projects, guiding tasks to successful completion while ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives for ASIC/FPGA engineering methodologies.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• Clearance: Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of ASIC/FPGA engineering processes, methodologies, and best practices.
• Cross-Disciplinary Knowledge: Broad understanding of related engineering disciplines and how they integrate into ASIC/FPGA development.
• Project Leadership: Knowledge of project leadership principles, including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls.
• Problem-Solving: Experience resolving complex engineering challenges using innovative and creative solutions.
• Collaboration & Communication: Frequent interaction with internal managers, cross-functional teams, external customers, vendors, and occasional contact with Business Development.
• Tools & Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
