The Senior Benefits Administrator performs complex benefits related functions for Company benefit programs including Health, FSA, Disability, Life, Pension, etc. Possesses recent and comprehensive knowledge of all federal and state regulations regarding benefits (ACA, COBRA, HIPAA Section 125, Medicare Part D, and FMLA). Provides excellent customer service to employee population to ensure proper understanding of Company benefit plans. The Senior Benefits Administrator is responsible for ensuring the administration of the Company's benefit functions in the most efficient, cost effective and compliant manner. The position maintains strong working relations with employees, managers, the accounting department and outside vendors. You will have the opportunity to help create and refine the benefit operations of a publicly traded, Portland based company.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $90,000/ year

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in the evaluation, production, and distribution of all benefit communication materials.
  • Provide mentorship to HR support staff in supporting the benefits organization.
  • Maintains benefit eligibility, distributes notifications, and performs enrollment functions in the HCM system.
  • Assists with Leave of Absence administration
  • Reconciles and processes benefit premiums and administrative fees, including various multi-employer health/welfare and pension trusts.
  • Effectively communicates with outside vendors to resolve benefit issues.
  • Administers job functions in accordance with ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, Section 125, COBRA, FMLA and Medicare Part D.
  • Provides training and support to business unit HR business partners.
  • Performs functions required for acquisitions, mergers and other special projects, as requested.


Internal Control Responsibilities:

Supports the Company's Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating and complying with defined internal controls as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures and controls to better relate to the business.

Communicates upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions.

Interpersonal Contacts:

This position involves phone, written, and face-to-face contact with all levels of employees from entry level clerks to executive officers. Communication ranges from answering simple questions to discussing company policies. External contacts by phone, in writing or face-to-face include all levels of current and former employees, vendors, brokers, government agencies, attorneys, consultants, other HR professionals.

Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions:

Ability to: lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally; sit for extended periods of time, up to 6-8 hours per day; write by hand and keyboard for extended periods of time, up to 6-8 hours per day; assemble papers, paper punch, staple, file; apply sufficient force to open and close file drawers. Ability to communicate by speech and hearing continuously. Communication is primarily by phone, email and in person, with other departments within the Radius Group. Visual acuity needed for close detail work, preparing and analyzing data figures, and computer use.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR business or related field with five or more years' experience in Human Resources and employee benefits or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, Section 125, Medicare Part D, and FMLA.
  • Project management within a benefits organization.
  • Solutions oriented personality.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet strict deadlines; organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
