Under the direction of the Manager Benefits Operations & Compliance, the Senior Benefits Analyst works in a fast-paced, customer service focused Human Resources (HR) department. Serves as the subject matter expert in the administration of all benefits programs and contributes to the benefits and wellness strategy through implementation of new benefits initiatives, analyses of benefit market trends and competitiveness. Participate in training and communication of benefits programs, assist with the evaluation of policies, guidelines and legal compliance of benefit related programs. Acting as an internal consultant and point of contact to employees regarding escalated benefits eligibility, coverage and other benefits related matters, ensuring the highest level of customer service is delivered to all employees, vendors and plan participants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversees ongoing benefit (i.e., health and welfare, retirement, and wellness) program administration and new program implementations. Monitors eligibility, limitations, and restrictions of plan participants and ensures compliance with both plan provisions and government requirements. Resolves elevated and sensitive benefit issues and works closely with HR partners, as may be needed, to obtain resolution.
2. Performs benefit compliance activities related to carrier policies, annual reporting and required plan disclosures. Establish audit cadence and activities to ensure internal administration and operational processes are compliant with the plan document.

3. Participates in the annual plan renewal and leads the Open Enrollment process including implementing new/updated plans and developing communications, coordinating benefit fairs and/or educational meetings; partners with benefits brokers, carriers and internal partners as needed.
4. Collaborates with Health & Wellness and/or Retirement plan consultants to manage action items and Enterprise deliverables.
5. Proposes changes in policies, practices and/or communications accordingly and maintains an "expert" level understanding of benefit plans, innovative trends and best practices, program offerings and regulatory requirements (i.e., ERISA, PPACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ACA, and section 125).
6. Assists in developing and implementing employee benefit communications. Ensures the accuracy and relevance of all benefit-related communications in printed and electronic copy, as well as ensuring that all benefit materials on the Employee Self-Service website are current and up to date.
7. Conducts and coordinates benefit education meetings (i.e., NEO, 401(k), Open Enrollment, wellness).
8. Assists in the development of benefit plan metrics and provides financial, utilization, status and trend analysis.
9. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

EDUCATIONAL, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources or related field required.
Minimum of (5) five years' experience with increasing responsibilities in benefits administration required.
Prior experience with benefit compliance activities (i.e., ACA, NDT, 5500s, 401(k) disclosures, 401(k) audit process, RMDs, annual true-up process) required.
Familiarity with Pension Plan (like CalPERS) a plus.
Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
Comprehensive and in-depth knowledge and understanding of all aspects of benefit plan administration, policies and procedures best practices, and the ability to effectively interpret, apply and communicate such information appropriately.
Prior experience with Workday is strongly preferred.
Experience in HCM implementations related to automated benefits administration including benefit rule configuration, testing, integrations, benefit workflow and data processes preferred.
Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced, complex environment with shifting priorities while executing the benefits strategy.
Highly proficient in utilizing the Microsoft Office suite of products and HRIS systems and software.
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Proven ability to consult and present with HR colleagues, Sr. Executives and Business Unit Leaders/ Managers.
Strong understanding of project management techniques with the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks and projects simultaneously.

Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.
Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.

Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings,
via videoconference and over the telephone.
Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
