Who We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a senior building performance analyst to lead the design of energy efficiency in buildings as part of a comprehensive in-house consulting team that's working to identify, evaluate, select and integrate viable energy and environmental (sustainable) design strategies during the architectural design process, helping us deliver zero carbon projects by 2030. This position requires substantial interaction, teamwork, and coordination with architects, designers, and building services engineers. Responsibilities include overseeing and/or conducting building performance analyses and technical evaluation of architectural, thermal, daylighting, and active and passive strategies through all design phases. Analyst with 8+ years' experience with comprehensive analyses of buildings and development of recommended energy and carbon efficiency measures. This position will report to the Americas Head of Sustainability.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Model and analyze energy/carbon use in buildings in compliance with program guidelines or code requirements, preferably using the IES-VE, ClimateStudio, EnergyPlus or equivalent software.
- Evaluate code requirements and propose interpretations, as applied to energy/carbon savings opportunities.
- Perform cost analysis (LCA) of energy efficiency measures.
- Show initiative in addressing client concerns and demonstrate a proactive approach in advocating for energy and carbon-efficient solutions.
Opportunity Generation:
- Assist in developing and maintaining excellent relationships with existing and potential clients through project work.
- Support the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business and assisting with proposals, budgets and schedules.
- Serve as a voice for Populous in conferences and professional forums.
Essential Qualifications:
- Accredited bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, mechanical engineering, or other building-related technical field required. Advanced degree in building science preferred.
- Comfortable leading with initiative and not just a doer, but thrives on shaping, growing and evolving the design of performance as a business opportunity.
- Credentials such as ASHRAE Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP), ASHRAE High-Performance Building Design Professional (HBDP), or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledgeable about building energy theory, principles, and practice, and qualitative and quantitative research methods and analyses.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, meet deadlines, work both independently and collaboratively, and communicate effectively.
- Demonstrated high level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent writing and speaking skills. Must be comfortable interacting with high-level decision makers.
- Proficiency in energy simulation software applications.
- Working knowledge of construction practices and terminology.
Preferred
- Proficient at energy modeling using IES-VE (preferred) and/or other energy related software like EnergyPlus, ClimateStudio, DOE-2, eQuest, Ladybug tools, Rhino, Grasshopper, etc.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, CA Title 24 energy codes/standards.
- Knowledge of environmental rating systems like LEED, ILFI, Energy Star, etc.
- Understanding of project documentation of energy-related systems / sustainable design / LEED / ILFI, including energy modeling inputs and outputs, LEED/ILFI templates, calculations, specifications, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings.
Additional Information:
- Travel will be required.
- Overtime will be required.
- The position can be based in our Kansas City (HQ) preferred, or New York offices, and is a full-time position. Starting salary range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
Compensation:
- The projected salary range for this opportunity is $105,303 - $131,628 annually and may be more or less depending on skills, experience, and education.
