Job Summary / Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Sr Commodity Settlements Analyst is to support the settlement team in leading the company's commodity accounting and reporting responsibilities including volume actualization and settlement of natural gas supply and optimization activities, corresponding storage and pipeline transportation agreements as well as Marine, LNG and HHC sales activities invoicing. The Sr Commodity Settlements Analyst will be responsible for a variety of aspects of the commodity accounting and reporting process. The Sr Commodity Settlements Analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders across various Commercial, Finance and other departments.

Essential Duties / Functions
  • Actively engages in volume actualization and settlements of natural gas supply, optimization activities, corresponding storage and pipeline transportation agreements including prior period adjustments and ensures contractual compliance.
  • Actively engages in preparing provisional and final invoices for LNG and HHC sales and marine activity.
  • Actively engages in receipts, payments, collections, and settlement issues with counterparties.
  • Actively engages in monthly tasks, journal entries, volumetric and account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Assists with month end and year end close activities including preparing and analyzing financial data, statements, and reports to ensure compliance with US GAAP.
  • Assists with interim and year end audit processes with the external audit firm. Assists in coordinating PBC and other audit requests. Works closely with external auditors on controls questions, issues, and deficiencies.
  • Fully supports company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities.
  • Special projects as needed.

  • Minimum Requirements

    Minimum education required of the position.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

    Minimum experience required of the position.
    • 5+ years of gas supply settlement experience in the North American Energy market
    • Strong knowledge of financial derivatives settlements, ideally in physical and financial gas, natural gas assets (pipeline and storage), heavy hydrocarbons, and LNG
    • Strong knowledge of volumetric and accounting reconciliations
    • Experience in top ERP systems, preferably SAP
    • Experience in top ETRM systems, preferably Endur

    Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position.
    • Technical Competency - Volume actualization and settlement of natural gas supply and optimization activities, corresponding storage and pipeline transportation agreements as well as marine and LNG sales activities invoicing.
    • Results focused, detail oriented, problem solving, and self-starter.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships and seamless interfaces across the business, including front, middle and back-office teams as well as with senior management.
    • Strong skills with Microsoft Office tools.

    • CPA and/or MBA preferred
