GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Sr Data Warehouse Analyst, as a member of the Data Management team, supports enterprise-wide operational data stores, data lake, and data warehouse development activities. He/she partners with individual business units to define business needs, gather data requirements and facilitate data onboarding following best practices and standards. This experienced individual contributor is a strong collaborator and responsible for very complex partner assignments related to data integration, reporting and analysis. He/she proactively identifies, recommends and participates in the development of streamlined data integration strategies, designs, solutions and processes that enable the business to leverage American Equity data.

**Position sits in West Des Moines and will work an onsite hybrid schedule**

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Researches, analyzes, validates and documents business data requirements for integrating business data sources into the enterprise data lake and warehouse.
  • Facilitates meetings with technical and non-technical staff to clarify business requirements and acquire business approval for all data requirements.
  • Conducts data profiling and other analyses to determine the efficacy of available data sources.
  • Facilitates the identification of potential gaps in available data and collaborates with business, data management and IT to determine best means for acquiring the data needed.
  • Transforms non-functional and functional data requirements into executable technical specifications leveraged by data architecture and ETL resources in data lake and warehouse development.
  • Collaborates with data management resources on the creation and maintenance of data artifacts.
  • Maintains moderate knowledge of database structure design, definitions, capabilities, SQL, processes and data integrity constraints.
  • Ensures adherence to data management and data governance policies and standards.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics, Information Management or related field of study; plus ten (10) years of progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Minimal level experience working with data modelling and/or ETL tools or high-level understanding of their usage in a data development lifecycle. development.

Experience partnering with business, data architecture, data engineers, and IT resources creating data solutions plus a strong understanding of the various roles involved.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Minimal data model knowledge. (relational, dimensional, historical data support, etc.)
  • Understanding of data engineering design/development principals and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of API development and best practices.
  • Working knowledge of RDBMS and data warehouse front-end tools.
  • Moderate level development experience working with SQL scripting.
  • Strong analytical skills, research capabilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience streamlining and automating manual data processes.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and other outside third parties.
  • Demonstrated experience compiling data from disparate sources.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to build strong relationships across the Business.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present findings to key stakeholders.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
