Job Duties

The Virginia Retirement System is looking for a skilled D365 Developer to join our team. This role involves managing the steady state operations and maintenance of our existing SaaS Microsoft Dynamics D365 Finance and Operations (D365 F&O) and its associated components. The developer will be responsible for development and enhancements to D365 F&O including integrations with third party products and solutions. The Developer works collaboratively with business users, fellow team members, managed services provider, and IT Security and Infrastructure team members in maintaining and supporting D365 F&O. The developer utilizes Azure, Power Automate, Power BI, Logic Apps, D365 Copilot and AI tools to automate business processes and enhance application workflows.

Key responsibilities include:
Owns the entire D365 F&O application lifecycle management.
Troubleshoots issues, conducts monthly data backups, maintains non-production environments including refreshes.
Monitors daily production jobs and provides operational visibility to the IT and Business stakeholders.
Maintains and supports D365 F&O lower environments and associated components in Azure.
Coordinates with VRS IT Security, Infrastructure, and D365 Managed Service Provider ensuring all D365 production, staging, test, and development environments up-to-date and conforms to Microsoft standards and VRS IT Security controls.
Analyzes business needs and translates them into technical specifications, develop, test and deploy changes.
Develops and enhances D365 F&O components, custom extensions, modifications, and integrations including workflows, and user interfaces.
Utilizes Azure services, Power Automate, Power BI, Logic Apps, D365 Copilot and AI tools to design, develop, and implement solutions.
Evaluates and recommends new technologies and tools to enrich the current platform to improve productivity, customer experience, and efficiently.
Ensures D365 F&O enhancements and fixes conform to VRS IT Security policies and standards.
Designs solutions considering performance, scalability, and maintainability, creating technical documentation to guide development.
Creates and updates D365 F&O technical and architecture documentation.
Conducts unit testing, system integration testing, and user acceptance testing to identify and resolve issues.
Conducts monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly maintenance activities to D365 F&O environments, components and supporting services.
Partners with managed service providers on matters related to the management of D365 F&O including platform upgrades.
Remains current on new developments in technology platforms through self learning, training and attending conferences.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams and clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Performs other assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or a closely related field.

Six (6) years' experience in implementing and supporting D365 suite of ERP solutions including a minimum of 3 years' experience in supporting D365 Finance and Operations SaaS version. Experience with Microsoft Azure Services.

Microsoft D365-Finance and Operations Apps Developer Associate OR Microsoft D365-Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect Expert OR other relevant intermediate/advanced D365 Finance and Operations certification is required.

Additional Considerations

Proficiency and hands on experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O development tools (Visual Studio), LogicApps, Power BI and Power Automate and expert understanding of the D365 F&O architecture. Working knowledge of Azure services including DevOps, Storage, Key Valut, SQL, VMs etc. Working knowledge of D365 F&O core business processes - finance, operations, supply chain management, procure-to-pay and related modules. Demonstrated experience with SQL Server and Dataverse. Working knowledge of Software Development Methodologies - Waterfall, Agile (Scrum) and hybrid approaches.
