Essential Duties

1. Directs one or more functional areas within an administrative department of the University and ensure compliance with University policies and procedures. 2. Directs analytic and research support for educational policies and planning and develops and approves administrative policies affecting assigned functional areas of the University. 3. Directs and establishes parameters for major projects for the department and University. 4. Interprets federal policies and regulations and educates staff and administration about regulations, restrictions, and the legal responsibilities of the University. 5. Directs and implements policy and program modifications and develops standards to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. 6. Develops and administers an operating budget for the assigned department consistent with University policies and procedures. 7. Develops cost savings objectives and goals; authorizes major purchases and negotiates contracts that range from routine to complex in nature. 8. Establishes and implements long- and short-range goals for the functional area consistent with University goals and objectives. 9. Directs the development of related automated systems to support the function; determines office policies and procedures for use of automated systems. 10. Directs the evaluation and selection of vendors and negotiates contract details including work steps and pricing with the vendors on behalf of the assigned functional area. 11. Works with internal and external contacts to solve problems that range from routine to complex in nature. 12. Represents the University in discussions and negotiations with various governmental agencies. 13. Directs a staff of exempt and nonexempt employees. 14. May perform other duties as assigned.

Position Focus:

Yale University is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Campus Strategy and Operations to support the various building and renovation projects underway to support our mission and enable our ambitious capital plan. This new leadership role will oversee the coordination of the various departments involved in building updates to ensure they are providing input during the design phase, that turnover from construction to management is smooth, and that activation of new and renovated buildings is collaborative and transparent. The Director will work closely with various departments, including IT, hospitality, academic leaders, public safety, facilities, and campus planning, to ensure a cohesive and efficient approach to campus development. This position is integral to implementing Yale's vision for a state-of-the-art, sustainable, and student-centered campus environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Implementation:

Planning for new or modified space as a result of University Strategic Planning or other critical needs. Partner with

Facilities, academic and administrative units involved.

Provide strategic support and leadership to campus planning committees and sub committees, including the Space

Planning Advisory Committee.

Lead the development and execution of strategic plans for campus expansion and modernization.

Collaborate with university leadership to align campus development projects with Yale's long-term goals.

Ensure that all campus projects adhere to budgetary constraints and timelines.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Engage with students, faculty, staff, and the broader community to gather input and support for campus development initiatives.

Communicate progress and updates on campus projects through various channels.

Manage relationships with internal facilities, hospitality, ITS and other leaders, as well as external contractors and vendors for campus development projects.

Campus Services:

Work with IT teams to upgrade infrastructure, ensuring robust and secure technological support for all campus functions and student experiences.

Coordinate the enhancement of campus hospitality services, including dining, housing, and event management.

Collaborate with public safety officials to ensure a safe and secure campus environment.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in academic administration, space planning, or a closely related area.
