CAREER OPPORTUNITY:
The Mechanical Project Engineer's responsibility includes planning, organizing, developing, and executing capital engineering projects within constraints of specific project scope and target schedule. The successful candidate will need experience in project management with technical skills to coordinate a variety of disciplines within the Engineering Department, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering Firms, Vendors and Contractors. The position also requires supporting and managing tasks associated with Management of Change projects for maintenance and operations.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT SMURFIT WESTROCK:
- Perform and or manage all Front End Planning and Detailed Design engineering for approved capital projects with the objective of meeting technical, cost, schedule, and safety goals
- Execute aspects of project procurement and vendor/contractor management
- Outlines project requirements and provide technical assistance on capital projects from design through completion and commissioning
- Inspect completed installations and ensure that all projects are installed per applicable regulatory codes (OSHA, ANSI, ASME, AISC, FM Global etc.)
- Comply with corporate project standards and reporting timelines
- Coordinate outside resources to assist with operational improvements
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or Structural / Civil Engineering)
- Background in leading capital projects & project management experience
- Pulp & Paper experience preferred but not required
- 10+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing (any manufacturing environment)
- PMP Certification a plus but not required
- Excellent trouble shooting skills with a demonstrated continuous improvement mindset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills such as building close working relationships and minimizing conflicts through collaboration and consensus building
- JDE Experience Preferred
- Drafting and CAD (AutoCAD) training/experience
- Support safety and environmental compliance
